NEW BUSINESS (Cont.) <br />a. continued... <br />specifications and cost estimates so that the work can go out for <br />public bid at the Board of Public Works meeting on January 22nd. <br />There was no objection and item 6.a. was continued. <br />b. <br />Mrs. Kolata explained that Mr. Herceg made this proposal several <br />months ago and most of the work is already complete. The proposal <br />calls for the completion of design work, cyst estimates and design <br />specifications of the Niles Avenue project for an estimated cost not <br />to exceed $19,500. He also provides for the rate at which he would <br />charge us if we would hire him for construction supervision. <br />Mr. Nussbaum noted that these design projects did not require a public <br />bid because they were professional services. Mrs. Kolata noted that <br />when the Commission first requested proposals for the redesign of <br />Niles Avenue, they requested proposals from two or three engineering <br />• firms. The Commission hired to redesign Niles Avenue and this is an <br />extension of that work. <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Fewell, seconded by Mr. McCullough and <br />unanimously carried, the Authority hired Ken Herceg and Associates, <br />Inc. for engineering services related to the redesign of Madison <br />Street from Niles Avenue to the East Race. <br />c. Authority approval requested to hire Cole Associates for <br />architectural/engineering services related to the design of the Howard <br />Park Wall aril Viewing Park Walk Improvements. <br />Mrs. Kolata noted that these are the plans which are not complete <br />today. Cole Associates has based their fee on a percentage of total <br />construction cost plus reimbursable costs at a rate of 1.1 times the <br />direct cost incurred. Additional services will be billed at 2.3 <br />times the direct personnel expense. These are all standard fees and <br />are within the range that is acceptable to the Department of <br />~~~'~!• <br />Upon a motion by Mr. McCullough, seconded by Mr. Fewell and <br />unanimously carried, the Authority approved the hiring of Cole <br />Associates for architectural/engineering services related to the <br />design of the Howard Park Wall and Viewing Park Walk Improvements, <br />d. Authority approval requested to hire Lawson Fisher Associates for <br />engineering services related to the design of the Rink Riverside <br />-3- <br />
