SUBSTITUTE BILL NO. 72-85 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 7cf g g _ gas' <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCES NO. 7358-84 <br /> AND 7359-84 TO PROVIDE FOR SALARY ADJUSTMENTS <br /> TO CERTAIN POSITIONS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br /> POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS FOR THE CALENDAR <br /> YEAR 1986. <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br /> Ordinances No. 7358-84 and 7359-84 provided for maximum <br /> salaries and wages of sworn officers of the Police and Fire Depart- <br /> ments of the City of South Bend, Indiana for the calendar years <br /> 1985 and 1986. A recent study of existing salaries reveals <br /> inequity in the salary structure . Some deputy staff positions, for <br /> example , pay more than department head positions . Consequently, <br /> this salary ordinance is submitted to correct some of these <br /> problems. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE SOUTH BEND COMMON <br /> COUNCIL as follows : <br /> SECTION I.
