CMc Proposal for City of South Bend — Four Winds Renovation and Expansion Project u 11
FIRM BACKGROUND/TEAM/EXPERIENCE
• Firm Experience
• Provide a minimum of three similar projects completed within the last five (5) years that demonstrate CMc
experience with relevant public works projects in the State of Indiana. Describe the details about the projects
including total cost, challenges, and successes.
Phase I of Fort Wayne’s Riverfront Development comprised
2.5 miles of river and 310 acres of land. The $20 million
project included recreational and ecological improvements
that draw the community to the river. Among the many
Phase I components were the Park Foundation Pavilion with
food and beverage service, the Sweetwater Bandshell for
performances, boat docks and kayak launches, permanent
game areas, a kids’ canal, and the Treetop Canopy Trail.
Promenade Park offers activities for all age groups and
personal fitness levels. Trails and recreation areas provide
access to nature within the heart of downtown Fort Wayne.
Work on the riparian habitat within the space provided a
balance of improvements in the river system, new types of
ecological systems in key locations, and open view sheds and
access throughout the area.
Hagerman’s success with this project led the City of Fort
Wayne to select us for Phase IIB of Riverfront Development,
breaking ground in September 2023.
ARCHITECT Design Collaborative
Ron Dick | 260.422.4241
rdick@designcollaborative.com
COMPLETION August 2019 | 23 months
PROJECT TEAM Project Executive — Brad Smith
Project Manager — Ryan Clingenpeel
Project Estimator — Chris Freiburger
Project Coordinator — Kelly Geller
Project Accountant — Melissa Smith
FORT WAYNE RIVERFRONT
DEVELOPMENT PHASE I
SIZE
7.4 ACRES
COST
$20M
DELIVERY
CMa
2020 BCA
Excellence in
Construction
Award
Winner
2021 Urban
Land Institute
Award for
Excellence
Winner
OWNER CONTACT
Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation
Steve McDaniel, Director
260.427.6407
steve.mcdaniel@cityoffortwayne.org
CHALLENGES - No one locally had ever worked on the river
with a project of this type. There was a learning curve with
numerous agencies to coordinate with.
SUCCESSES - We finished within the stated budget and
provided the City with a one-of-a-kind park experience.
