United States Department of the Interior <br />National Park Service / National Register of Historic Places Registration Form <br />NPS Form 10-900 OMB No. 1024-0018 <br />Edgewater Place Historic District Saint Joseph County, IN <br />Name of Property County and State <br />Section 7 page 20 <br /> <br />attic features a dormer, covered with wood shingles, and a hipped roof centered on the façade. <br />The dormer has two short Craftsman style windows; the north window is divided into three <br />panes and the south window is covered with wood. <br /> <br />The building is thought to have been constructed in 1908 by Whitcomb & Keller prior to their <br />Edgewater Place plat in 1919, however it is located on Edgewater Place’s lot one which absorbed <br />the undeveloped portions of Fuerbringer’s plat. Whitcomb & Keller rented the house to tenants <br />until they sold it in 1923 to Phillip Oestreicher, a salesman. He sold it a year later but continued <br />to live in the home until at least 1925. Oestreicher sold it to Courtland DuComb, a graduate of <br />DePauw and Indiana Universities, who practiced law in South Bend. He lived here until 1942 <br />when the house was transferred to Courtland and Clara DuComb’s son, Noel.18 <br /> <br />735 Lincoln Way. Flack Cigar Co. A simple trim board is at the top of the second story walls and the low-pitched <br />gabled roof is covered with asphalt shingles. The house has a combination of 3/1 Craftsman style <br />wood windows from an early remodeling campaign and 1/1 wood windows.
