South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Rescheduled Regular Meeting -June 25, 2008
difficult business to be in and questioned whether the
city should be in the business of a high end golf course.
Mr. Inks responded that 2008 is the last year of the
current contract with Meadowbrook. There is a joint
committee of the Commission and Airport Authority
that oversees the administration and budgeting of the
golf course.
Mr. Downes noted that that committee will not meet
again until November, unless something special requires
it to. He suggested that if we want to do something like
an RFP, staff should communicate that to the joint
committee.
Dr. Varner asked that staff communicate that. He feels
that after this many shortfalls, it's important to consider
whether management is the problem. Later on in the
meeting the Commission will make a statement that the
TIF is needed for necessary expenses. He wondered if
all the expenses, such as subsidizing Blackthorn Golf
Course, are truly necessary.
Upon a motion by Mr. King, seconded by Mr. Downes
and unanimously carried, the Commission approved the
Claims submitted June 25, 2008, and ordered checks to
be released.
4.
