REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 28, 2013 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana met in the Council Chambers of the County-City Building on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Council President Dieter and the Invocation and Pledge to the Flag were given. White At-Large, Chairperson Committee of the Whole OTHERS PRESENT: Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand Council Attorney John Voorde City Clerk Janice I. Talboom Deputy Mary Beth Wisniewski Chief Deputy REPORT FROM THE SUB-COMMITTEE ON MINUTES Councilmember White made a motion that the minutes of the January 14, 2013, meeting of the Council be accepted and placed on file. Councilmember Oliver Davis seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. SPECIAL BUSINESS Council President Dieter announced that the South Bend Common Council is accepting applications for citizen members for its 2013 Standing Committees. He also announced that there are openings for the Century Center Board of Managers; Historic Preservation Commission; Human Rights Commission; Redevelopment Commission and Urban Enterprise Association. He advised that applications may be found on-line on the Council’s website and in th the Office of the City Clerk, 4 Floor County-City Building, 227 W. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, Indiana. Applications are to be filed in the Clerk’s Office by January 31, 2013. REPORT ON THE MUSIC VILLAGE FROM KELLIRAE BOANN Kellirae Boann, The Music Village, The JMS Building, 108 N. Main Street, Suite 113, South Bend, Indiana, presented a PowerPoint on the Music Village Downtown South Bend. Ms. Boann touched on the basics of The Music Village providing group lessons for adults and children, instruments and voice, guitar, piano, banjo, hammered dulcimer, viola, violin, bass, vocal performance; Dance, Latin, Spanish, Ballroom, Swing, and Hip Hop; and for the little ones, music play, improve and rhythm & movement. She encouraged everyone to check them out on- line at themusicvillage.org or call 574-245 (SONG) 7664. Ms. Boann also noted that they are always accepting donations of instruments and office equipment and supplies. She thanked the Council for this opportunity to speak and get the word out on the Music Village Downtown South Bend. 1
