<br />Preventive Maintenance of Angela Boulevard Bridge <br />Over St. Joseph River January 2023 <br /> 11 <br />XXII. COMMON EXCAVATION <br /> <br />A. 2022 INDOT Standard Specification: 203 <br /> <br />B. Additions: <br /> <br />1. The unit price bid shall include all items required to perform the scope of <br />work, except for those items that are specifically listed in the proposal for <br />separate payment. <br /> <br />2. The minimum soil compaction requirements for backfill material will be as <br />follows: <br /> <br /> Subgrade under any road, pavement, and drainage structure 100% <br /> Existing ground receiving fills and any disturbed area 90% <br /> Backfill in pipe trenches under any roads/pavement 100% <br /> Compacted Aggregate Subbase 100% <br /> <br />3. Maximum density shall be determined by AASHTO T-99 as modified by <br />Section 203.24 of the State Specifications using Method A for soil and <br />Method C for granular material. <br /> <br />4. No open excavations without proper protection as provided or otherwise <br />directed shall be left overnight. Unprotected open excavations must be <br />backfilled or fenced. <br /> <br />5. The quantities of excavation shown on the proposal sheet will not be <br />measured separately by the Engineer. If the Contactor has acceptable data <br />that indicates an excavation quantity error by more than 10%, then additional <br />measurements will be performed by the Contractor and submitted to the <br />Engineer for review and determination. Measurement will not include <br />material excavated beyond authorized limits. If the quantity error is agreed <br />by the Engineer, then the unit price on the proposal form will be extended. <br />XXIII. EROSION CONTROL <br /> <br />A. 2022 INDOT Standard Specification: 205 <br /> <br />B. Additions: <br /> <br />1. The Contractor shall provide temporary silt fences, temporary inlet <br />protection, or other necessary items to prevent sediments from being washed <br />off the project site. The cost for environmental protection measures shall be <br />included in the Stormwater Management Budget pay item. <br /> <br />2. The Contractor shall monitor and oversee all erosion control measures, <br />conduct regular weekly and post-event inspections, and perform all other <br />tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and removal of erosion control <br />measures. Sediment runoff outside the project limits shall be removed <br />immediately and properly disposed at no additional costs to the Owner. <br />Measurement will not be made separately, and all associated costs shall be <br />paid for under the Stormwater Management Implementation pay item Lump <br />Sum price.
