amoomor.4 sod Economic Development Committee Meeting <br /> 14=1 10. <br /> Cassandra Moran of Community&Economic Development reviewed her April 4,2000 <br /> report(copy attached) which noted that the petitioner propose to purchase an Okum MH-60 <br /> horizontal machine center which will be used to machine parts for the turbine industry. The <br /> approximate cost of the machinery is$324,000.00. The report concluded that the petitioner meets <br /> the appropriate provisions of the $ OUt b Vitra if tunitipal tat for the abatement. <br /> Mr. Andrew Spalding, the President of Parrish Machines was available for questions. <br /> Followin g discussion, Council Member Ujdak made a motion, seconded by Dr. Varner,that Bill <br /> No. 00-35 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 00-36 which is a six(6) year real property tax <br /> abatement request for Batteast Warehouse Partnership for the property located at 2102 West <br /> Washington Street. <br /> Cassandra Moran of Community&Economic Development reviewed her April 5,2000 <br /> report(copy attached) which noted that the petitioner proposes to build a 12,800 square food steel <br /> warehouse on approximately two(2) acres of land. It would be used for small businesses needing <br /> space for light manufacturing and light industrial. Batteast Construction Company, Inc. Would <br /> occupy part of the warehouse. The report concluded that the petitioner meets the criteria set forth at <br /> § 2-83.1 of the§bOlit j 3 U !' UUiCiilal tat. <br /> Mr. William L. Batteast was available for questions from the committee. Council Member <br /> Pfeifer noted that the project would be in the Second District and she welcomes this development <br /> noting it would be a tremendous investment to the area. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Varner made a motion, seconded by Council <br /> Member Kirsits that Bill No. 00-36 be recommended favorably to Council.
