,ecres:ea Development Committee <br /> _.sP. <br /> In response to a question from Council Member Kelly it was noted that Tom Lowe came up with <br /> he name"Playing Mantis". <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Ujdak made a motion, seconded by Council Member <br /> Varner that Bill No. 00-45 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 00-46 which is a five(5)year personal property tax <br /> abatement request for The Hickey Group for the properties located at 1207, 1209, 1211, and <br /> 1213 Apple Ridge Court; and 5810 and 5816 Miami Street. <br /> Cassandra Moran of Community and Economic Development reviewed the May 2, 2000 report <br /> r intends to construct six(6)homes each <br /> (copy attached)which notes that the Hickey Group ( ) <br /> costing between$ 125,000 to$ 165,000. The petitioner meets the requirements of section <br /> 2-77.1 of the South Bend Municipal Code addressing single family real property tax abatement. <br /> John B. Feeney,Vice-President of Lang,Feeney&Associates,Inc. made the presentation for <br /> The Hickey Group. He noted that a church declined to develop the subject properties and <br /> therefore the vacant land would be subdivided into six(6)parcels for single family development. <br /> The construction would be similar to that of Canterbury Woods. It would provide affordable <br /> homes in the Fifth District. Dr. Varner noted that the report should reflect all other <br /> developments of the Hickey Group under other development names. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Ujdak made a motion, seconded by Council Member <br /> Varner that Bill No. 00-46 be recommended favorably to Council.
