,ecres:ea Development Committee _.sP. In response to a question from Council Member Kelly it was noted that Tom Lowe came up with he name"Playing Mantis". Following discussion, Council Member Ujdak made a motion, seconded by Council Member Varner that Bill No. 00-45 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 00-46 which is a five(5)year personal property tax abatement request for The Hickey Group for the properties located at 1207, 1209, 1211, and 1213 Apple Ridge Court; and 5810 and 5816 Miami Street. Cassandra Moran of Community and Economic Development reviewed the May 2, 2000 report r intends to construct six(6)homes each (copy attached)which notes that the Hickey Group ( ) costing between$ 125,000 to$ 165,000. The petitioner meets the requirements of section 2-77.1 of the South Bend Municipal Code addressing single family real property tax abatement. John B. Feeney,Vice-President of Lang,Feeney&Associates,Inc. made the presentation for The Hickey Group. He noted that a church declined to develop the subject properties and therefore the vacant land would be subdivided into six(6)parcels for single family development. The construction would be similar to that of Canterbury Woods. It would provide affordable homes in the Fifth District. Dr. Varner noted that the report should reflect all other developments of the Hickey Group under other development names. Following discussion, Council Member Ujdak made a motion, seconded by Council Member Varner that Bill No. 00-46 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. There being no further business to come before the Committee,the meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m. by Chairperson Roland Kelly.
