et <br /> rxmnunity and Economic Development <br /> September 25,2000 <br /> Page <br /> Sue Clark, a representative of Dave Coker, made the presentation. She noted that they are <br /> attempting to provide affordable housing in the city. <br /> Following discussion, Dr. Varner made a motion, seconded by Council Member Ujdak that <br /> Bill No. 00-110 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Dea Andrews then joined the Committee meeting. <br /> Council Member Kelly then called for a report on Bill No. 00-109 which is a five (5) year <br /> residential real property tax abatement request of South Bend Heritage Foundation for the <br /> properties located at 1402 and 1408 West Washington Street. <br /> Cassandra Moran of Communit y and Economic Development reviewed her report dated <br /> September 18 <br /> p 18, 2000 (copy attached). She noted that the petitioner has been developing the West <br /> Washington Neighborhood and that the project would include the construction of two(2) homes to <br /> be sold to owner <br /> occupants with units costing$77,790 for a total project cost of$ 155,580. <br /> Dea Andrews made the presentation on behalf of the South Bend Heritage Foundation. <br /> She showed a map to the Committee depicting that there are currently three (3) lots which will be <br /> replatted into two(2) lots. They have a purchaser for lot A and will have a hearing on the variance <br /> on October 19th. <br /> Council Member White inquired about the for sale sign on 1401 Chapin. Ms. Andrews <br /> noted that that location is one of two spec houses with closing to take place in the near future. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Varner made a motion, seconded by Council <br /> it <br /> Member Kirsits that Bill No. 00-109 be recommended favorably to Council.
