PuM,c Works and Property Vacation Committee
March 27. 2000
Paget
Council Member White noted that she is a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in
Christ but would not receive any financial consideration as a result of this proposed
vacation and therefore would not have a conflict of interest.
Council President Pfeifer spoke in favor of the proposed vacation. She noted that the
church and the Elks have been good neighbors for many years and welcomed the
investment and development in her District.
Following discussion, Council Member Kirsits made a motion, seconded by Council
Member Aranowski that Bill No. 29-00 be recommended favorably to Council. The
motion passed.
The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 30-00 which is a request to vacate a portion of the
l Po
north side of Maple Road between Portage Road and Sandwood. Dr. Varner noted that
the request received a favorable recommendation from the Board of Public Works (Board
minutes of the March 27, 2000 meeting attached).
Mr. Michael J. Danch, President of Danch, Harner & Associates Inc. made the
presentation. The proposed vacation would permit additional buidable areas for three (3)
proposed subdivision lots to be created and would further permit widening Maple Road
from sixty (60) feet to eighty (80) feet in width where it intersects with Sandwood. Mr.
Danch provided maps and additional information to the Committee (copies attached). He
noted that the roads in question are"paper streets". Andy Place would be the Developer.
Following discussion, Council Member Aranowski made a motion, seconded by Council
Member Kirsits that Bill No. 30-00 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion
passed.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council Member Varner
adjourned the meeting at 4: 15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Council Member David Varner, Chairperson
Public Works and Property Vacation Committee
KCF:kmf
Attachments
•
z - -
