LOCHMUELLER GROUP | CITY OF SOUTH BEND COAL LINE TRAIL PHASE 3 11 <br /> <br />LPA FEDERAL AID PROJECT EXPERIENCE <br />Chessie Trail is a 10-foot wide, 1.1-mile <br />concrete multi-use path through downtown <br />La Porte, which begins at a planned trailhead <br />at an urban intersection. Lochmueller <br />provided design, environmental, railroad <br />coordination, utility coordination, and ROW <br />services for Phase 2. Project elements <br />included: <br /> <br />+ Railroad crossing improvements <br />including approach, gate <br />reconstruction, pedestrian gates, & <br />“Z” gates or chicanes. <br />+ Staged pedestrian crossing with refuge <br />island <br />+ Path trailhead, signage, lookouts & <br />other trail amenities added for safety <br />concerns <br />CHESSIE TRAIL PHASE 2 <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br />NINTH STREET TRAIL <br />CITY OF GOSHEN <br />The Ninth Steet corridor resides in an urban <br />area and includes a railroad. After an EPA <br />Pilot-Brownfleld Area-Wide Plan identifled a <br />need for street redesign, the multi-use path <br />was identifled as the initial project for <br />improvement to be completed.
