UNITED CONSULTING // City of South Bend - Safe Routes to School (Des #2201237)12 <br />SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL <br />KENNEDY ACADEMY <br />CLIENT: CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, IN <br />United assisted the city of Jeffersonville with designing enhancements along <br />Spring Street, including the preparation of an Engineer’s Report for several <br />separate roadway segments extending from Riverside Drive to Dutch Lane. The <br />report detailed the design elements, construction costs, and schedule for each <br />segment to be built. <br />The first segment, including new and repaired sidewalk, new pedestrian <br />lighting, and redistribution of lanes to include bike lanes in each direction, <br />was constructed in 2019. The remaining segments have been designed and <br />are awaiting funding. The Downtown segment was designed with an emphasis <br />on pedestrian accessibility. Bumpouts were included at each intersection and <br />midblock. Additional on-street parking was added, and pedestrian oases were <br />provided along the corridor.
