City of South Bend | PE Services for Safe Routes to School - Kennedy School - Des #2201237 | 5
PROJECT UNDERSTANDING: DES. #2201237
This project focuses on the replacement of sidewalks and curb ramps
in the Kennedy School Neighborhood. This area, bordered by Bendix
Drive to the west, Orange Street to the south, Birdsell Street to the east,
and Lincolnway West to the north, will center around routes used by
school-aged children. However, JPR understands that pedestrians of all
ages will benefit from proposed improvements as a public transportation
route runs through the neighborhood and several churches and
community centers are located within the target area.
These improvements will greatly impact the safety and mobility of
residents. The graphic located on the next page identifies key
locations within the project area that generate pedestrian activity,
as well as an initial assessment of sidewalks and ramps to be
addressed.
KEYS TO SUCCESS
• Sustained Availability &
Communication
• Experienced Team
• Anticipate Conflicts
St. Stanislaus Catholic Church
Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center Kennedy Water Park
SB Fire House No. 4
