QCOmmftt$$ Uport: The Zoning and Annexation Committee to the tOmmOnn QCOtt'lttUY of the efty of 16outb en : The April 13, 1998 meeting of the Zoning and Annexation Committee was called to by Council Member Varner in the absence of Council Member John Hosinski order at 4:15 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. Persons in attendance included Council Members: Hosinski, Aranowski, Broden,Pfeifer, Varner,Ujdak, Kelly, and Coleman; Citizen member Doug Carpender,James Voll, Terry • Bland,Dean Carlson, Ricardo Milton,Marco Mariani,Mike Danch, David DuVall,James Brown, Chris Davey, Gail Alexander, Kevin Butler, Kyle Payne, Marilyn Gardner, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Council Member Varner noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 133- 97 which is a rezoning request for the property located in the 4001 Block of Brick Road. Mr. James Voll noted that this is an Area Plan Commission and the APC staff send the measure to the Council with a favorable recommendation. Mr.Michael Danch spoke on behalf of the petitioners,James Brown and Chris Davey. He noted that they would like to develop the area for industrial purposes. It was noted that the proposal is in conformance with the goals of the Blackthorn Development Plan. A Preliminary Rezoning Plan was provided to the Committee(copy attached). Following discussion, Citizen Member Doug Carpender made a motion, seconded by Council Member Pfeifer that Bill No. 126-98 be recommended favorable to Council. The motion passed. The next item reviewed by the Committee was Bill No. 2-98 which is a zoning request for the properties located at 125, 127, 137, 201, 209, 229, 235, 243, 301 and 315 East Broadway Street. Mr. James Voll noted that this is an Area Plan Commission and the APC staff send the measure to the Council with a favorable recommendation. Marco Mariani, Neighborhood Planner spoke in favor of the measure and provided a statement to the Committee in favor of the housing imitative being completed by American Home Dreams, Inc. (copy attached). Council Member Pfeifer,the District Council Member, for the area state that the homes are beautiful and spoke in favor of the proposal. Council Member Kelly also spoke in favor of the proposal. Following discussion, Council Member Pfeifer made a motion, seconded by Council Member Broden that Bill No. 2-98 be recommended favorable to Council. The motion passed. The Committee then reviewed substitute Bill No. 19-98 which is a rezoning request for the property located on the west side of Portage Road,north of Bendix Drive.
