I. 1 <br /> • <br /> Cant Wu Z*port: <br /> Personnel and Finance Committee <br /> lro the Common Coma! of the tttg of iio ut1j Nenb: <br /> The April 28, 1997 meeting of the Personnel and Finance Committee was called to order by <br /> its Chairperson, Council Member Sean Coleman at 4:37 p.m. in the council informal <br /> meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members: Aranowski, Pfeifer, Kelly, Broden, <br /> Varner, Ujdak, Coleman, Hosinski, Sniadecki; Sue Hodgson, Don Porter, Richard Hill, <br /> Cathy Roemer, Ann Kolata, Bernie Kish,John Penney, Bruce Wicks, Mayor Luecke,Jon <br /> Hunt,Marvell Mosley,and Kathy Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> The first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 30-97 which fixes annual <br /> compensation for non-bargaining employees for calendar years 1996, 1997,and 1998. <br /> Cathy Roemer, City Controller, made the presentation. She noted that she is making <br /> recommendations on four positions namely the Director of Budgeting,the Director of City <br /> Finance,the Director of Human Resources,and the elimination of the City Auditor position <br /> and the elimination of the Deputy City Controller. <br /> In response to a question raised by Council Member Varner it was noted that the number of <br /> positions in the Department is between 23 to 25. <br /> Council President Kelly complimented the new City Controller for her efficiency in her <br /> Department and the recommended changes. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Aranowski made a motion seconded by Council <br /> Member Varner that Bill No. 30-97 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion <br /> passed. <br /> Council Member Coleman then asked for an update from Mr. Bernie Kish,the Director of <br /> the Football Hall of Fame. Mr.Kish introduced Mr.John Penney,Market Strategist. Also <br /> introduced were Marvell Mosley and Bruce Wicks. Mr. Kish noted that the Director of <br /> Fundraising position had not been filled. <br /> Mr. Kish noted that the Legends Luncheon Series of which there have been three so far <br /> have been very successful. It is anticipated that there will be four lunches prior to the Notre <br /> Dame football games this fall. He also noted that the Heisman Golf Outing and Banquet is <br /> set for June 20 and the 21 with the Enshrinement Festival to take place in August with <br /> ESPN televising the event. <br /> Council Member Pfeifer questioned the number of black coaches involved with the Football <br /> Hall of Fame. It was also mentioned that one of the Heisman paintings is missing. <br /> In response to a question raised by Council Member Broden that in order to have a pregame <br /> event of IU and ND it must be sanctioned by the NCAA which is done every January. <br /> However it is a very difficult process to have an additional game added to the schedules. <br /> The potential income may be between $200,000-$300,000. Council Member Varner <br /> suggested a National Sponsor for further enhancement of funds. <br />
