Other relevant information. <br /> BACKGROUND AND CURRENT STATUS: <br /> Ordinance No. 10081-11 was passed into law by the City of South Bend's Common Council on April 11, 2011,effective <br /> July 1, 2011. The nine members of the MWUB were appointed by October 19,2011;they are: <br /> • Franklin Breckenridge <br /> • Sam Centellas <br /> • Thomas Coley(Board Vice President) <br /> • Anthony Fitts (Board President) " <br /> • Kareemah Fowler(Board Secretary) <br /> • Gary Gilot--as the City's Public Works Director <br /> • Carrie Kosac <br /> • Jinny Longbrake <br /> • Jeff Rea <br /> At this time,the Public Works Director's seat on the board is open, pending appointment of a new director. Mr. Gilot <br /> has offered to remain involved with the MWUB as a Citizen Volunteer;we heartly welcome Mr. Gilot's continued <br /> involvement and assistance. <br /> Our first Board meeting was held on November 10,2011. Since then,we have held meetings on December 5, 2011, <br /> January 4,2012, and January 12, 2012 which have focused on selection of officers; organizational planning; review of <br /> existing City-generated reports on MBE/WBE statistics; review of policies and practices of similar MWUBs in other cities <br /> across the state; establishment of liaison relationships with Common Council and City staff; and an initial review and <br /> question session with members of the City's legal staff about specific sections of Ordinance No. 10081-11. Many of <br /> these tasks are ongoing, but a few of the important responsibilities of the MWUB to be accomplished over the next <br /> several months include: <br />
