CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS <br />i. 2022-0621 720 Park Avenue <br />MICHELE GELFMAN <br />PRESIDENT <br />HYBRID <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Adam Toering <br />Ross Van Overberghe <br />Kate Bolze <br />Christina Shakour <br />Chapin Park LHD, Ordinance #9574-05 <br />(Audio Position: 1:05) <br />The staff report was presented by Adam Toering. <br />Staff Recommendation: <br />The structure exhibits deferred maintenance of the original windows. Deferred <br />maintenance does not constitute deteriorated beyond repair. Staff recommends that the <br />original windows be restored and the application for replacement be denied. <br />The applicant was represented by: <br />John Sikorski, 720 Park Avenue, South Bend, IN 46616 <br />John Downs Krostenko read a statement onto the record. The statement is attached as a <br />separate document. <br />The public was represented by: <br />N/A <br />After due consideration, the following action was taken: <br />Upon a motion to deny by John Downs Krostenko, seconded by Sarah Hill, and <br />unanimously carried by vote, the Historic Preservation Commission DENIES Certificate of <br />Appropriateness #2022-0621. <br />Legal Counsel Shakour clarified that, in motions for denial, Commissioners are required <br />to state their reasons for denial.
