CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS <br />i. 2022-0418 715 Forest Avenue <br />MICHELE GELFMAN <br />PRESIDENT <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Adam Toering <br />Ross Van Overberghe <br />Rachel Boyles <br />Christina Shakour <br />Chapin Park LHD, Ordinance #9574-05 <br />(Audio Position: 2:18) <br />The staff report was presented by Adam Toering. <br />Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends dividing the project into two components: <br />A) RETROACTIVE replacement of the rear porch posts, railings, and spindles: Staff <br />recommends denial. Porches of this architectural style were often supported by <br />turned posts and delicate spindles and railings. <br />B) Extension of the existing south shed dormer over the front entrance stoop: Staff <br />recommends approval, subject to an amended design with turned <br />decorative posts. Porches of this architectural style were often supported by <br />turned posts and delicate spindles and railings. <br />The applicant was represented by: <br />Kelly Schmucker, 715 Forest Ave South Bend, IN 46616 <br />The public was represented by <br />N/A <br />After due consideration, the following action was taken: <br />Upon a motion by Sarah Andrews, seconded by Elizabeth Hertel, and unanimously <br />carried by vote, the Historic Preservation Commission APPROVES splitting Certificate of <br />Appropriateness Application #2022-0418 into two parts, A and B. <br />Vote: 6-0.
