<br />08-51-00 - 13 ALUMINUM WINDOWS – SERVICE BUILDING 08-51-00 - 13 <br />1. Install low-modulus polyurethane spray foam insulation in voids and cavities of the <br />window frame and assembly where required, shown on the Construction Drawings, <br />or field directed by the Architect, to maintain a thermal barrier between the exterior <br />and the building interior. Install non-gasing closed-cell backer material in the void <br />between window and opening – exterior and interior. <br /> <br />2. Provide and install perimeter sealants and backer rod at the perimeter of all frames, <br />interior and exterior, in the wall openings. Install a non-gassing closed-cell backer <br />material in the void between window frame and wall opening – exterior and interior <br />as conditions require to support the sealant. Tool finish the sealant joint smooth, <br />with a slight concave profile and having a consistent appearance and dimension <br />around the window/opening. <br /> <br />a. Sealant color shall match the window frame finish color. Refer to Section <br /> 07-92-00 for additional sealant information and requirements. <br /> <br />C. Perform all necessary field adjustments to the window sash and opening hardware to provide <br />smooth operation of the sash and accessories, and for weathertightness to meet the <br />specified infiltration standards. The adjustments shall be performed by technicians trained by <br />the window manufacturer. <br /> <br />3.03 PROTECTION AND CLEANING: <br /> <br />A. Protect the aluminum window materials and finishes from damage by other construction <br />trades, activities and materials. <br /> <br />B. After installation, metal and glass surfaces of the walls shall be cleaned on both interior and <br />exterior, of all mortar, plaster, paint, and other contaminants. Remove all stickers – except <br />egress labels, shipping shims/banding, and adhered labels. After being cleaned, all work <br />shall be protected against damage until it is accepted by the Owner. <br /> <br />C. Satisfactorily repair any damaged material, or replace with new materials. <br /> <br />D. Cleaning Agents: <br /> <br />1. Do not use abrasives or harmful cleaning agents or chemicals. Follow the window <br />and glazing manufacturer’s recommendations for cleaning the aluminum frames and <br />components, and glass surfaces. <br /> <br />END OF SECTION 08-51-13
