Qlmmudttrr Irpnrt
PERSONNEL AND FINANCE COMMITTEE
the &omuwn QIoumtl of tilt CV of*nutty limb:
The May 1, 1991 Meeting of the Personnel and Finance
Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council
Member Ann Puzzello, at 4:10 p.m. in the Council Informal
Meeting Room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members Slavinskas,
Puzzello, Duda, Ladewski, Coleman, Niezgodski, Luecke, and
Zakrzewski; Cleo Hickey, Katie Humphreys, Steve Edwins, Dan
Peroti, Richard Nussbaum, members of the news media, and
Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Council Member Puzzello noted that the first item on the
agenda was to review Bill No. 27-91, which appropriate
monies from the Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium Fund.
Mr. Nussbaum explained that $30,000.00 would be used for
capital improvements. Of this amount, $18, 000. 00 would be
used to repair the lighting system, including rewiring.
Approximately $10,000.00 would be used for an irrigation
system, which would be installed on South and Taylor
Streets. This system was originally in the stadium plans.
Mr. Nussbaum noted that there have been a number of power
outages and problems with regard to turning on and off the
lights. He noted that once the repairs are completed that
there will be control both by computers as well as manually
on banks of lights.
Mr. Nussbaum also noted that the remaining $2,000.00 would
be used for a new computer system. He noted that the Site
Committee would be in South Bend on May 28th and May 29th
for the Triple A Franchise possibility.
Council Member Ann Puzzello had a question with regard to
artist rendering of the stadium. Mr. Nussbaum noted that the
only cost to the City for that was approximately $700.00. In
response to a further question from Council Member Puzzello,
it was noted that the Fund had approximately $151,000.00 as
of March, and that if the proposed Ordinance would be
approved that there would be a balance remaining of
approximately $20,000.00.
Council Member Zakrzewski questioned how much savings would
result with the new wiring system in place. Mr. Nussbaum
stated that he would have that figure available for the time
of the public hearing.
Council Member Puzzello suggested that the sign of the
stadium be cleaned.
