dionunittn Er4lrt ZONING AND VACATION COMMITTEE Ma tie Comm fQouurtl of tip CV of£►nntly end: The January 8, 1990 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation Committee was called to order by its Chair Person Council Member Lee Slavinskas at 4:30 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. Persons in attendance included Council Members: Coleman, Duda, Niezgodski, Puzzello, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, and Luecke; Doug Carpenter, citizen member, Anthony George, members of the news media, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Council Member Slavinskas offically welcomed Council Member Niezgodski as a new member of the Zoning and Vacation Committee. The first items on the agenda were to review Bill No. 113-89 which would establish the property located at 729 Cottage Grove as an historic landmark, and Bill No. 114-89 which would establish the property located at 713 Cushing as an historic landmark. Mr. John Oxian then reviewed the background information on each Bill. He noted that Bill No. 114-89 for the Cushing property involves a structure which is rated as a "S-11" . He noted that this would qualify as a local landmark status. He stated that the property was an NHS home and was built in 1898. The owner, Gail Brown, has been residing there for approximately one year. Unfortunately she would be unable to attend the meeting. Mr. Oxian then reviewed Bill No. 113-89 which is for the Cottage Grove property. He noted that the structure is ranked as a "S-11", was built in 1902 and is of Queen Ann style. Council Member Luecke questioned whether the Cottage Grove property was single family or currently being used as apartments. Mr. Oxian believed that it was single-family, however, he would update the Council after consulting with the owner Mr. Kevin Gorham. He noted that Mr. Gorham would be present at this evening's council meeting. Council Member Luecke stated that the 713 Cushing property is similar to the Leland properties which were previously approved by the Council. He applauded both owners of the real estate and recommended that both properties be acted favorably. Following further discussion, Council Member Luecke made a motion seconded by Council Member Coleman that Bill Nos. 113-89 and 114-89 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
