Persons in attendance included Council Members : Slavinskas , Puzzello , Luecke, Coleman, Niezgodski, and Zakrzewski ; John Leszczynski and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Council Member Zakrzewski noted that there were three Bills on the agenda to review. The first Bill was Bill No. 22-89 which would appropriate $305 , 000. 00 from the Local Road and Street Fund for the widening and lighting of Cleveland and Brick Road. Mr. Leszczynski noted that this project is desperately needed in light of the area where two lanes become four lanes with a concrete median. He noted that the plans include a single concrete lane with improved street lighting but there will be no new signalization. The current medians would be eliminated. He stated that the bid price of $305,000. 00 is what would be appropriated. • Following further discussions Council Member Niezgodski made a motion secondded .by_,Counc.il Member Puzzello that Bill No. 22-89 be recommended favorabhy to Council. The motion passed. The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 23-89. which would appropriate $23 ,535. 36 from the Local Road and Street rund to improve local railroad crossings throughout the City. Mr. Leszczynski noted that the appropriation amount represents the City' s 10% share of the railroad crossing work at the following locations : 1400 South Olive, Ford Street , and Walnut Street , all which has been completed with rubberized crossings . Mr. Leszczynski further noted that the State now requires that the City' s share be placed up front with the railroad doing all of the necessary repair work. Following further discussion Council Member Puzzello made a motion seconded by Council Member Slavinskas that Bill No. 23-89 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 24-89 which would appropriate $9 , 000.00 from the Local Road and Street Fund for engineering work for the Miami/Calvert intersection improvements. Mr. Leszczynski noted that that Cole Associates will be designing the upgrading of signals for this particular intersection. He noted that the actual work would be funded through the Federal Aid Urban Program and would be approximately two years before the project is completed.
