Mr. Leszczynski then reviewed Bill No. 24-88 which would <br /> appropriate $72,750.00 from the local road and street fund <br /> to project R & S 8706, Edison widening from Crestwood to <br /> Hickory. He noted that additional monies are due to pay the <br /> City's share of the costs of construction. The City's share <br /> is 25% which includes the cost of storm sewers. <br /> Following discussion, Councilman Puzzello made a motion <br /> seconded by Councilman Duda that Bill No. 24-88 be <br /> recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Mr. Leszczynski then reviewed Bill No. 25-88 which would <br /> appropriate $100,257.54 from the local road and street fund <br /> to project R & S 8801, railroad crossing improvements. He <br /> stated that a new policy is in effect which requires the <br /> money to be up front. 90% of the project will be paid by <br /> Federal funds administered through the State with the City <br /> paying the remaining 10%. Mr. Leszczynski noted that most <br /> of the crossings will be rubberized. The crossings include: <br /> Conrail at 1600 South Twyckenham, Conrail at 1500 South <br /> Prairie, Conrail at 1400 South Olive, Conrail at Olive and <br /> Washington Streets, GTW at 500 South Ironwood Drive and 6 <br /> warnings devises between Ironwood and Miami. <br /> Councilman Niezgodski stated that the Ford Street Crossing <br /> in the sixth district is in terrible condition. Mr. <br /> Leszczynski also noted that all of the identified crossings <br /> are to be done this year. <br /> Following discussion, Councilman Duda made a motion seconded <br /> by Councilman Niezgodski that Bill No. 25-88 be recommended <br /> favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Councilman Slavinskas inquired into the status of Meridian <br /> Drive within the Airport Industrial Park. Mr. Leszczynski <br /> stated that this is a public thoroughfare. <br /> Councilman Luecke questioned what the overall source of <br /> funding was with regard to the local road and street fund. <br /> He was advised that this is all funded from gasoline tax <br /> with the City receiving monthly distributions from the <br /> State. It was noted in response to a question from <br /> Councilman Zakrzewski that approximately $500, 000.00 would <br /> be left in the fund after tonight's meeting, all of which <br /> would be marked for the paving program. <br /> Councilman Puzzello voiced concern with regard to Country <br /> Club Drive and the fact that there are no stop signs <br /> erected. Mr. Leszczynski stated that the City could put <br /> stop signs in place since it is a T-intersection. <br /> Councilman Duda stated that she believed that signage on <br /> South Miami turning into Scottsdale Mall for turning only <br /> 2 <br />
