Otnmmtttrr Report <br /> Ma the O nmmun (lomutt of the Mtn of 13outh lenh: <br /> PUBLIC WORKS <br /> The May 9, 1988 meeting of the Public Works Committee was <br /> called to order by its Chairman Councilman Tom Zakrzewski at <br /> 4:05 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Councilmen: Luecke, <br /> Niezgodski, Soderberg, Puzzello, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, <br /> Coleman, Duda and Voorde; John Leszczynski, Jim Wensits, and <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Councilman Zakrzewski noted that the purpose of the meeting <br /> was to review various Public Works Ordinances sent to the <br /> committee for review and recommendation. <br /> The first Bill reviewed by the Council was Bill No. 22-88 <br /> which would appropriate $6,712.86 from the local road and <br /> street fund to project R & S 8701, traffic signal Bendix <br /> Drive and Sugar Maple Lane. Mr. Leszczynski stated that the <br /> additional appropriation is needed due to the costs of <br /> construction of this project. He noted that the balance in <br /> the local road and street fund, if this appropriation is <br /> approved, would be $869,285. 13. Upon a question, Mr. <br /> Leszczynski noted that the curb is the property owners' <br /> responsibility unless it is part of an overall project <br /> within the City. <br /> Following discussion Councilman Niezgodski made a motion <br /> seconded by Councilman Puzzello, that Bill No. 22-88 be <br /> recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Mr. Leszczynski then reviewed Bill No. 23-88 which would <br /> appropriate $310, 000. 00 from the local road and street fund <br /> to project R & S 8705, Logan Street widening, McKinley to <br /> Edison. Mr. Leszczynski noted that the appropriation now <br /> being requested would be $260,000.00 as opposed to <br /> $310,000.00. This represents 12 1/2% of the total <br /> construction cost with Mishawaka providing 12 1/2% and <br /> Federal monies administered through the State of Indiana <br /> making up the remaining 75%. <br /> Following discussion, Councilman Niezgodski made a motion <br /> seconded by Councilman Duda that Amended Bill No. 23-88 be <br /> recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br />
