Otnmmtttrr Report
Ma the O nmmun (lomutt of the Mtn of 13outh lenh:
PUBLIC WORKS
The May 9, 1988 meeting of the Public Works Committee was
called to order by its Chairman Councilman Tom Zakrzewski at
4:05 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Councilmen: Luecke,
Niezgodski, Soderberg, Puzzello, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski,
Coleman, Duda and Voorde; John Leszczynski, Jim Wensits, and
Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Councilman Zakrzewski noted that the purpose of the meeting
was to review various Public Works Ordinances sent to the
committee for review and recommendation.
The first Bill reviewed by the Council was Bill No. 22-88
which would appropriate $6,712.86 from the local road and
street fund to project R & S 8701, traffic signal Bendix
Drive and Sugar Maple Lane. Mr. Leszczynski stated that the
additional appropriation is needed due to the costs of
construction of this project. He noted that the balance in
the local road and street fund, if this appropriation is
approved, would be $869,285. 13. Upon a question, Mr.
Leszczynski noted that the curb is the property owners'
responsibility unless it is part of an overall project
within the City.
Following discussion Councilman Niezgodski made a motion
seconded by Councilman Puzzello, that Bill No. 22-88 be
recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
Mr. Leszczynski then reviewed Bill No. 23-88 which would
appropriate $310, 000. 00 from the local road and street fund
to project R & S 8705, Logan Street widening, McKinley to
Edison. Mr. Leszczynski noted that the appropriation now
being requested would be $260,000.00 as opposed to
$310,000.00. This represents 12 1/2% of the total
construction cost with Mishawaka providing 12 1/2% and
Federal monies administered through the State of Indiana
making up the remaining 75%.
Following discussion, Councilman Niezgodski made a motion
seconded by Councilman Duda that Amended Bill No. 23-88 be
recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
