eamtntrtn Krpt1rt <br /> PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE <br /> (ails the (Cotonou* &IOuuuil of the fdt of*will Ben/: <br /> The July 25, 1988 meeting of the Public Safety Committee was <br /> called to order by Councilman Don Niezgodski, Vice Chairman, <br /> at 3:35 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Councilmen: Puzzello, <br /> Luecke, Niezgodski, Duda, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Voorde, <br /> and Coleman; Max Moore, Members of the News Media, Chief <br /> Luther Taylor, Dan Mirocha, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Councilman Niezgodski noted that the first item on the <br /> agenda was to review Bill No. 56-88 which requests the <br /> transfer of monies from the Fire Department Account to the <br /> Emergency Medical Services Account. <br /> Luther Taylor, Fire Chief, stated that the transference of <br /> $43,700. 00 was to meet the ambulance expansion for the rest <br /> of this calendar year. A third ambulance would be added <br /> with it to be delivered in mid-August. <br /> Following discussion, Councilman Duda made a motion seconded <br /> by Councilman Puzzello that Bill No. 56-88 be recommended <br /> favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Councilman Niezgodski then stated that the next Bill to <br /> review was Bill No. 57-88 which would appropriate $63 ,635.80 <br /> from the Emergency Medical Services Capital Improvement <br /> Fund. <br /> Chief Taylor noted that this was the final payment on the <br /> 1984 Pirsch 110 foot skytop aerial. He noted that this was <br /> the "dead quint" and would be used as a reserve unit, thus <br /> making it available for residential use only. It is <br /> currently housed in Station 10. The Chief stated that he <br /> does not believe it is worth repairing since the repair <br /> would take between 6 to 8 months. He further noted that the <br /> company went out of business when it filed bankruptcy. All <br /> of the legal matters are currently being handled by Tom <br /> Bodnar of the Legal Department. <br /> In response to a question from Councilman Niezgodski, the <br /> Chief added that they would no longer do business with this <br /> company. Chief Taylor noted that Pierce of Appleton <br /> Wisconsin has an excellent service record with the City. In <br /> response to a question from Councilman Luecke, it was noted <br /> that the manufacturer looks for money within 30 days of <br /> delivery of a unit. <br /> Councilman Voorde noted that the capital in this account <br /> comes from revenues received through the ambulance service. <br />
