O nmmtflrr Road <br /> ZONING AND VACATION COMMITTEE <br /> go tie Clout= Couartt of tip CV of Sow Loh: <br /> The August 8, 1988 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation <br /> Committee was called to order by its Chairman Councilman Lee <br /> Slavinskas at 4:00 p.m. in the Council informal meeting <br /> room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Laurie Eckenberger, a <br /> journalism student at I.U. , Doug Carpenter, Councilmen: <br /> Luecke, Niezgodski, Puzzello, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, <br /> Coleman, Voorde, and Duda, Jim Wensits, T. Brooks Brademas, <br /> Kathy Baumgartner, Samual and Anna Ashby, Mrs. DeLanghe, and <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Councilman Slavinskas noted that the first item on the <br /> agenda was to review Bill No. 69-88 which is requesting a <br /> zoning change for the property located at 744 South <br /> Michigan. <br /> Mr. & Mrs. Ashby, the owners of the property, stated that <br /> they are requesting the zoning change from "C" Commercial <br /> "F" Height and Area to "D" Light Industrial "F" Height and <br /> Area. Councilman Slavinskas noted that at the Area Plan <br /> meeting of July 19, 1988 the zoning request received a <br /> favorable recommendation. <br /> • <br /> Mr. & Mrs. Ashby plan to demolish the current building on <br /> the property and to erect a metal pole-barn which would have <br /> electricity and cement floors in it but would not be heated. <br /> The building would be used to house fishing equipment. Mr. <br /> & Mrs. Ashby are wholesalers and sell out of town but do not <br /> sell directly from the building. It was noted that there <br /> were no remonstrators at the Area Plan meeting. Copies of <br /> drawings were then circulated. (copies attached) <br /> Councilman Luecke questioned how far the building would be <br /> from the alley and it was noted that the new building would <br /> be 10 feet further away than the current building. <br /> Following further discussion, Councilman Luecke made a` <br /> motion seconded by Councilman Coleman that Bill No. 69-88 be <br /> recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Councilman Slavinskas then noted that the next item on the <br /> agenda was to review Substitute Bill No. 34-88 which is <br /> seeking a zoning change for the property located at 805 <br /> South Michigan Street. Kathy Baumgartner presented the <br /> Bill. She noted that the property houses the former <br /> Gilbert's building. The zoning request is to zone the <br /> property from "C" Commercial, "F" Height and Area, to "B" <br /> Residential, "F" Height and Area. She noted that the <br />
