O nmmtflrr Road ZONING AND VACATION COMMITTEE go tie Clout= Couartt of tip CV of Sow Loh: The August 8, 1988 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation Committee was called to order by its Chairman Councilman Lee Slavinskas at 4:00 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. Persons in attendance included Laurie Eckenberger, a journalism student at I.U. , Doug Carpenter, Councilmen: Luecke, Niezgodski, Puzzello, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Coleman, Voorde, and Duda, Jim Wensits, T. Brooks Brademas, Kathy Baumgartner, Samual and Anna Ashby, Mrs. DeLanghe, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Councilman Slavinskas noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 69-88 which is requesting a zoning change for the property located at 744 South Michigan. Mr. & Mrs. Ashby, the owners of the property, stated that they are requesting the zoning change from "C" Commercial "F" Height and Area to "D" Light Industrial "F" Height and Area. Councilman Slavinskas noted that at the Area Plan meeting of July 19, 1988 the zoning request received a favorable recommendation. • Mr. & Mrs. Ashby plan to demolish the current building on the property and to erect a metal pole-barn which would have electricity and cement floors in it but would not be heated. The building would be used to house fishing equipment. Mr. & Mrs. Ashby are wholesalers and sell out of town but do not sell directly from the building. It was noted that there were no remonstrators at the Area Plan meeting. Copies of drawings were then circulated. (copies attached) Councilman Luecke questioned how far the building would be from the alley and it was noted that the new building would be 10 feet further away than the current building. Following further discussion, Councilman Luecke made a` motion seconded by Councilman Coleman that Bill No. 69-88 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. Councilman Slavinskas then noted that the next item on the agenda was to review Substitute Bill No. 34-88 which is seeking a zoning change for the property located at 805 South Michigan Street. Kathy Baumgartner presented the Bill. She noted that the property houses the former Gilbert's building. The zoning request is to zone the property from "C" Commercial, "F" Height and Area, to "B" Residential, "F" Height and Area. She noted that the
