Human Resources and <br /> Development Committee <br /> Minutes/October 12 , 1987 <br /> Page 2 <br /> what would happen if the Council did not grant the three year Tax <br /> Abatement . Mr. Szarwark noted that the owners have been working <br /> diligently on the project since obtaining the proper re-zoning, and <br /> he was unsure of what the owners would do. <br /> Councilman Puzzello spoke in favor of the proposed project and the <br /> fact that Martins would be a part of the overall project. <br /> Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman Taylor <br /> made a motion, seconded by Councilman Serge, that Resolution No. <br /> 87-83 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Councilman Braboy then noted that the next item on the agenda, was <br /> to review Bill No. 99-87 , which would amend the South Bend Municipal <br /> Code, Chapter 2 , Article 6, entitled Tax Abatement Procedures. Mr. <br /> Jon Hunt gave out two handouts with regard to the definition of <br /> retail. (copies attached) He noted that the overall amendment <br /> would clarify this definition for Tax Abatement purposes. Following <br /> discussion, Councilman Puzzello made a motion, seconded by Council- <br /> man Serge, that Bill No. 99-87 be recommended favorably to Council . <br /> The motion passed. <br /> Mr. Hunt then reviewed Resolution No. 87-80, which would authorize <br /> the Mayor to submit an application to the Department of Housing in <br /> Urban Development , for and Emergency Shelter Grant. He noted that <br /> the Grant would be for forty six thousand dollars ($46 , 000. 00) and <br /> would require a fifty-fifty match at the local level . Following <br /> discussion, Councilman Puzzello made a motion, seconded by Council- <br /> man Serge , that Resolution No . 87-80 be recommended favorably to <br /> Council. The motion passed. <br /> Therebeing no further business to come before the Committee, the <br /> meeting was adjourned at 5 : 25 p .m. <br /> Respectfully submitted , <br /> Councilman Eugenia Braboy, Chairman <br />
