2
Committee Report Cont'd: Zoning and Vacation Committee
Councilman Voorde then noted that bill no. 97-87 was
also before the committee. This is a zoning ordinance for
the property located at 1918 Edison Road. Mr. Tony Zappia,
the attorney for the petitioner, noted that the overall
purpose of the ordinance is to change the zoning from A to B
which would eliminate the requirement that the Dr. Paul
Sergio live within the residence. He noted that the Area
Planning Commission at its meeting of November 17, 1987 sent
the proposed bill to the Council without recommendation.
Mr. Zappia then showed extensive photographs of the property
in question to the Committee. He further noted that
approximately $50, 000 of renovation was made on the
property. He further noted that Dr. Sergio specializes in
gum diseases and sees six or seven patients a day. Mr.
Fedder noted that he had letters in support of the proposed
rezoning from Mr. Mitiga, the neighbor to the east, and also
Mr. George Ambler, the neighbor to the west.
Mr. Chris Winter, a remonstrator, noted several
objections to the property in question. Councilman Voorde
noted that Mr. Winter had telephoned him earlier that
morning and that he had a subsequent phone call with Mr.
Dick Johnson of the Area Planning Commission.
Following further discussion by the committee,
Councilman Serge made a motion seconded by Councilwoman
Puzzello that bill no. 97-87 be recommended favorably to the
Council. The motion passed.
No further business came before the Committee. The
meeting was adjourned at 3:55pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Councilman John Voorde
Chairman
Zoning and Vacation Committee
