OInnuatilrr Erpn1"t <br /> ZONING AND VACATION COMMITTEE <br /> The December 7, 1987 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation <br /> Committee was called to order by its Chairman, Councilman <br /> John Voorde, at 3:40pm in. the Council's informal meeting <br /> room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Councilwomen and <br /> Councilmen: Puzzello, Voorde, Serge, Braboy, Beck, Taylor, <br /> Barcome, and Zakrzewski; Dr. Paul Sergio, Mr. Golichowski, <br /> Ken Fedder, Jim Wensits, Jon Hunt, Tony Zappia, and Kathleen <br /> Cekanski-Farrand: <br /> Councilman Voorde noted that there were several bills <br /> • on the agenda warranting review, namely, bill nos. 97-87, <br /> 115-87, 124-87 and 125-87. <br /> The Committee first reviewed bill no. 124-87 which <br /> would vacate certain property commonly known as Garst Street <br /> running west from the westerly right of way of Prairie for <br /> approximately 143.54 feet. <br /> Councilman Voorde briefly summarized the report from <br /> the Board of Public Works dated December 1, 1987 (attached) . <br /> He noted that the Board of Public Works held their meeting <br /> on December 1, 1987 and recommended that the vacation be <br /> approved. <br /> Mr. Golichowski noted that the purpose of the vacation <br /> was to assist in the apprentice and training school program <br /> located at 1015 Prairie Avenue and run by the Sheet Metal <br /> Workers Joint Training Group. He noted that the school is <br /> operated from 6pm to 10pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday <br /> evenings. The vacation would assist them with off street <br /> parking. <br /> Following discussion, Councilman Serge, made a motion <br /> seconded by Councilman Taylor that bill 124-87 be <br /> recommended favorably to the Council. The motion passed. <br /> The committee then reviewed bill no. 125-87 which would <br /> vacate the first north-south alley west of Kessler Boulevard <br /> by approximately 128 feet. <br /> Councilman Voorde noted that the Board of Public Works <br /> held their meeting on the proposed vacation on December 1, <br /> 1987 and recommended the bill favorably (report attached) . <br /> Mr. KencFedder, . the attorney for the petitioner, noted <br /> that the alley in question is not maintained nor used for <br /> any trash pick-up. He further noted that there were no <br /> remonstrators at the Board of Public Works meeting. <br /> Following further discussion, Councilman Serge made a <br /> motion seconded by Councilwoman Puzzello to recommend bill <br /> no. 125-87 favorably to the Council. The motion passed. <br /> Councilman Voorde then noted that bill 115-87 which <br /> would vacate certain property located near Dinan Court <br /> running approximately° 165 feet could be continued until the <br /> meeting of December 21, 1987. <br /> Councilwoman Puzzello made a motion seconded by <br /> Councilman Taylor that the bill be continued to December 21. <br /> The motion passed. <br /> rest Pert• . . /V•LUMINe co. <br />
