OInnuatilrr Erpn1"t ZONING AND VACATION COMMITTEE The December 7, 1987 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation Committee was called to order by its Chairman, Councilman John Voorde, at 3:40pm in. the Council's informal meeting room. Persons in attendance included Councilwomen and Councilmen: Puzzello, Voorde, Serge, Braboy, Beck, Taylor, Barcome, and Zakrzewski; Dr. Paul Sergio, Mr. Golichowski, Ken Fedder, Jim Wensits, Jon Hunt, Tony Zappia, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand: Councilman Voorde noted that there were several bills • on the agenda warranting review, namely, bill nos. 97-87, 115-87, 124-87 and 125-87. The Committee first reviewed bill no. 124-87 which would vacate certain property commonly known as Garst Street running west from the westerly right of way of Prairie for approximately 143.54 feet. Councilman Voorde briefly summarized the report from the Board of Public Works dated December 1, 1987 (attached) . He noted that the Board of Public Works held their meeting on December 1, 1987 and recommended that the vacation be approved. Mr. Golichowski noted that the purpose of the vacation was to assist in the apprentice and training school program located at 1015 Prairie Avenue and run by the Sheet Metal Workers Joint Training Group. He noted that the school is operated from 6pm to 10pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The vacation would assist them with off street parking. Following discussion, Councilman Serge, made a motion seconded by Councilman Taylor that bill 124-87 be recommended favorably to the Council. The motion passed. The committee then reviewed bill no. 125-87 which would vacate the first north-south alley west of Kessler Boulevard by approximately 128 feet. Councilman Voorde noted that the Board of Public Works held their meeting on the proposed vacation on December 1, 1987 and recommended the bill favorably (report attached) . Mr. KencFedder, . the attorney for the petitioner, noted that the alley in question is not maintained nor used for any trash pick-up. He further noted that there were no remonstrators at the Board of Public Works meeting. Following further discussion, Councilman Serge made a motion seconded by Councilwoman Puzzello to recommend bill no. 125-87 favorably to the Council. The motion passed. Councilman Voorde then noted that bill 115-87 which would vacate certain property located near Dinan Court running approximately° 165 feet could be continued until the meeting of December 21, 1987.
