The complex is to have a pool as well as a <br /> clubhouse, and all units will have fireplaces. It was noted that <br /> the structure is to be comparable to the Jamison Inn , another <br /> project of Mr. McGraw' s , and would be wood-framed . <br /> Following discussion, Councilman Puzzello made a motion, <br /> seconded by Councilman Beck, that the substitute version of Bill <br /> No . 47-87 be recommended favorably to Council . The motion passed . <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 32-87 which was a bill <br /> to amend the South Bend Municipal Code, Chapter 21 , Article 6.5 , <br /> entitled Historic Preservation Commission. Mr. Brian Poland, the <br /> acting Director of the Historic Preservation Commission, then gave <br /> a short presentation. He noted that the ordinance would allow the <br /> local commission to review National Register nominations within <br /> the South Bend area and would allow the Commission to set up a <br /> procedure for such review. <br /> Following discussion, Councilman Serge made a motion, <br /> seconded by Councilman Puzzello , that Bill No. 32-87 receive a <br /> favorable recommendation. The motion passed . <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 16-87 which was a zoning <br /> ordinance for the property located at the 200 block of South Logan <br /> Street. <br /> Mr. Gordon Johnson of Cressy & Everett indicated that there <br /> were currently three (3) vacant lots on the site. It was also <br /> indicated that the Area Plan Commission gave an unfavorable <br /> recommendation to the petition. He indicated that surrounding <br /> commercial uses include a Famous Recipe restaurant, a former Citgo <br /> station, and a 7-11 . The primary concern was with regard to the <br /> curb cut which has since been satisfactorily agreed upon between <br /> the developer and the engineering department. <br /> Mr. Johnson indicated that the proposed project would be a <br /> self-service car wash and would not have the problem of stacking <br /> of cars which other car washes would have. He showed the <br /> Committee a revised drawing of the project. He also indicated <br /> that a wood screen fence would be erected on the west side of the <br /> development next to the alley and that the alley would be paved as <br /> it is currently undeveloped . <br />
