Zoning & Vacation Minutes
June 8, 1987
Page 4
Mr. George Warrick, a resident of Widener Lane, stated that
they are already having problems with Reverend Summerall 's
operation ; that they question why 2 , 200 parking spaces were
required ; and that they did not like the suggestions of
variances.
Mr. Bernard Williams, a new resident on Widener Lane, stated
that she lives in a bi-level house and that she would be looking
directly at the new mall .
In response to a question from Mr. Warrick, the Council
Attorney noted that the procedures with regard to notice of the
hearing before the Common Council were identical to all other
procedures for rezonings. She further indicated that the Council
follows all applicable State and local ordinances with regard to
notice requirements .
Mr. Rick Morgan indicated that the variances would be within
the domain of the Board of Zoning Appeals and not before the City
Council. He also indicated that a total of 1 ,076 parking spaces
were indicated on the proposed site plan. The total height of
the buildings would be 24', and deliveries would take place out
of Chicago somewhere between 6 :00 a.m. and 7 :00 a.m.
Mr. Doug Carpenter noted that if the variances would not be
granted by the Board of Zoning Appeals , the developers must
address the specific items with regard to parking and set backs
in the final site plan .
Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman
Voorde noted that the Committee had three (3) basic options. The
Committee could vote to recommend the substitute bill favorably,
vote to recommend the substitute bill unfavorably , or vote to
recommend the substitute bill without recommendation.
Following further discussion by the Committee , Councilman
Taylor made a motion, seconded by Councilman Puzzello , that
Substitute Bill No. 11-87 be reported to full Council without
recommendation . The motion passed .
There being no further business to come before the
Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 5 : 15 p .m.
Respectfully submitted ,
Councilman John Voorde , Chairman
