Safe Routes to School | 10 <br />Similar <br />Project <br />Experience <br />Town-wide ADA Curb <br />Ramp Replacement <br />South Whitley, Indiana <br />DLZ provided professional consulting design <br />services for the development of engineering <br />plans and contract documents for ADA Curb <br />Ramp improvements in the Town of South <br />Whitley, Indiana. <br />The project consisted of construction of <br />ADA compliant curb ramps and sidewalks at <br />36 intersections around South Whitley. The <br />improvements includes sidewalk pavement <br />construction, ADA compliant curb ramps, <br />minor drainage grading improvements, yard <br />restoration, and pavement markings. <br />Additional services required for the design <br />included field survey, utility coordination, <br />NEPA document preparation (PCE), <br />construction inspection services, and <br />coordination with the various stakeholders <br />such as the Town of South Whitley and <br />adjacent property owners. <br />Mishawaka Safe <br />Routes to Emmons <br />Elementary School <br />Mishawaka, Indiana <br />The Emmons Safe Routes to School project <br />was an INDOT/federally funded project <br />consisting of sidewalk reconstruction along <br />Main Street and 16th Street. The project <br />also included design of curb ramps, advisory <br />signage, pavement markings and preparation <br />of Categorical Exclusion – Level 1 document. <br />The project limits were located along South <br />Main Street, between Sixth and Sixteenth <br />Street, for an approximate length of 3,200 <br />feet, and along East Sixteenth Street, <br />between South Main Street and Union Street, <br />for an approximate length of 1,100 feet. <br />The total project length was approximately <br />4,300 feet. The concrete sidewalk varied <br />from four to six feet wide along Main Street, <br />and four to six feet wide along with a grass <br />buffer varying in width along 16th Street. The <br />improvements included sidewalk pavement <br />reconstruction, ADA compliant curb ramps, <br />roadway signing, and pavement markings.
