payment to the Contractor. <br />2. The Contractor shall perform smoothness tests for both intermediate, and surface <br />pavements in accordance with 2020 INDOT Standard Specification Section 402.18 if <br />requested by the Owner. The test shall be done in the presence of a city representative. <br />The Contractor shall straight edge each course prior to the placement of the next course. <br />3. Damages will be assessed if the Contractor varies from the above specification. <br />4. No recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) or recycled asphalt shingles (RAS) or native grave <br />for coarse aggregate will be allowed in the HMA surface mixture. All pavement shall be <br />INDOT Type A HMA. HMA design and testing shall be in accordance with INDOT Standard <br />Specification Section 402. The total content of recycled material, both RAP and RAS, shall <br />be limited to 25% of the binder replacement. <br />5. Limestone aggregate will be the only coarse aggregate allowed in the HMA Surface mix. <br />The binder in the HMA surface mix shall be PG70-22P. <br />6. Asphalt for tack shall be used between each lift of HMA, unless prior approval by the <br />Engineer is obtained. The cost of the tack coat will not be paid for directly, but shall be <br />included in the cost of other HMA items. <br />7. HMA Surface and Intermediate will be paid for by the accepted tons of asphalt placed at <br />the contract unit prices as set forth in the proposal. <br />8. Measurement and Payment <br />a. Payment for all costs associated with Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement, including the cost of <br />all materials, equipment, tools, labor, transportation, operations, and all other <br />incidentals, shall be paid for on a tonnage basis under the pay item: <br />HMA INTERMEDIATE, TYPE B..........................................................TON <br />HMA SURFACE, TYPE B..................................................................TON <br />XXXII. CONCRETE, SIDEWALK <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2020, INDOT Standard Specifications Section 604 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. Expansion joints shall be placed at a maximum spacing of forty (40) feet and at any <br />additional places as shown on the City of South Bend "Design and Construction <br />Standards". Payment for joint material for sidewalk and curb ramps will be included in the <br />unit price for the respective Pay Item. <br />2. Transverse control joints shall be placed at equal intervals not to exceed five (5) feet. <br />3. Any new walks on private property that lead to the City's sidewalk shall match the grade of <br />the replaced sidewalk. The method of grade equalization will be determined by the <br />Engineer. <br />4. The concrete mix for concrete flatwork shall include a micro -reinforcement homopolymer <br />polypropylene fibrillated fiber system. Fibermesh 300 or approved equal. <br />5.
