Where cold weather conditions do not allow for adequate soil compaction, flowable fill shall be <br />used in lieu of structural backfill and shall be paid for as structural backfill. <br /> <br />5. Compaction Testing Frequency: <br /> <br />a. A minimum of one (1) Compaction Test will be required on the backfill for each sewer or water <br />main pipe transverse run that is under the pavement or concrete curb. A minimum of three (3) <br />Compaction Tests will be required on the backfill for sewer or water main pipe run. A pipe run <br />is the length between structures or valves, not to exceed 400-feet. <br /> <br />b. A minimum of one (1) Compaction Test per 1,500 square yards of roadway per lift of earth fill <br />or subgrade. <br /> <br />c. Location of the Compaction Tests will be selected by the Engineer. <br /> <br />6. Contractor shall provide copies of each sampling and testing report to Engine er as soon as said <br />samplings and reports are available. Failure to provide these reports in a timely manner shall permit <br />Owner to withhold payment until such time as the reports are received by Engineer. <br /> <br />7. Neither observations by Engineer nor inspections, tests or approvals by others shall relieve <br />Contractor from Contractor’s obligations to perform the Work in accordance with the Contract <br />Documents. <br /> <br />8. Quality control sampling and testing shall be the sole responsibility of Contractor and will not be <br />paid for directly, but the cost thereof shall be included in the cost of other items of the Contract. <br />VI. PUBLIC SAFETY <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2022, INDOT Standard Specifications Sections 107.08 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. It shall be the Contractor’s responsibility to secure the construction site against unauthorized <br />entrance by persons and vehicles outside of and during work hours. This includes securing the site <br />against dumping and public safety of the Owner, Owner’s representatives, pedestrians, bystanders <br />and neighborhood residents. <br /> <br />2. Maintaining public safety will not be paid for directly, but shall be included in the cost of various <br />items of the contract. <br />VII. STREET CLEANING <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2022, INDOT Standard Specifications Sections 107.08(b) <br />B. Additions: <br />1. The Contractor shall provide effective dust control. Loader-mounted pick up, power sweepers, or <br />other types of pull type models shall be used in all phases of street cleaning of streets adjacent to <br />the limits of active construction. <br /> <br />2. Street cleaning will not be paid directly, but shall be included in the cost of various items of the <br />contract.
