Once the <br />flow rate set point is reached for greater than 30 seconds the unit(s) in standby will be driven <br />on-line or immediately if the flow exceeds 150% of the predetermined set point to meet peak <br />flow rate demands. Once the peak flow rate demand decr eases by 95% of the set point for <br />greater than 1 minute the standby unit(s) that were driven on-line will return back to standby <br />mode. This system configuration determines the need to regenerate based on a unit reaching <br />zero capacity or day override. <br /> <br />j. PRESSURE GAUGES & SAMPLE TEST PORTS: Inlet and outlet pressure gauges shall be <br />factory installed on each softener, along with inlet and outlet test ports with ball valve for sample <br />testing. <br /> <br />k. SYSTEM FLOW RATE: <br />(i) One Unit 78 gpm @ 10 psi 89 gpm @ 15psi <br />(ii) Two Units 156 gpm @ 10 psi 178 gpm @ 15psi <br /> <br />l. CAPACITY PER TANK: <br />(i) Low Salting: 270,000 grains @ 90 lbs salt <br />(ii) Medium Salting: 390,000 grains @ 150 lbs salt <br />(iii) High Salting: 450,000 grains @ 225 lbs. salt <br /> <br />m. INSTALLING CONTRACTOR: The installing contractor shall provide and install individual ball <br />valves and unions on the inlet and outlet of each water softener and provide a three -valve by- <br />pass for the entire system. ¼” Test ports with with pressure gauges on each control. Installation <br />requirements will include provisions to winterize the equipment via compressed air. <br /> <br />n. FLEXIBLE CONNECTORS: If installation to and from the systems are being done in rigid piping <br />such as copper or galvanized, 2” Stainless Steel flexible connectors are required and need to <br />be installed on the inlets and outlets of each control valve. (4) Flexible connectors are needed <br />(2 per tank). <br /> <br />o. TEST KIT: Furnish Hach 5B hardness test kit. <br /> <br />p. DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS, MEDIA LOADING AND CONTROL VALVE MOUNTING: <br />Successful bidder shall follow the manufacture’s printed instructions for the media loading, and <br />installation to ensure proper procedures are followed. If needed, the successful bidder shall <br />contract with an approved authorization service agent from the manufacture to assist with these <br />procedures. <br /> <br />q. START-UP: Successful equipment provider shall follow the manufacture’s printed instructions <br />to start up the system after plumbing and electrical requirements are completed. This includes <br />raw water testing, programming, individual start-up for each softener column, system operation, <br />and product water testing for each column and training of personnel. Set system for medium <br />salting/capacity levels with fixed reserve and immediate regeneration. If needed, the succes sful <br />bidder shall contract with an approved authorization service agent from the manufacture to <br />assist with these procedures. <br /> <br />r. SERVICE: Successful manufacturer of equipment, shall have a factory trained and authorized <br />service agency that can provide job site service located within (150) miles of this job site. <br /> <br />2. Measurement and Payment <br /> <br />a.
