Water system shall be <br />set up to provide the ability for removal of water from the lines through a drain valve. Final system <br />shall be set up for easy winterization. <br /> <br />2. The Contractor shall be responsible for the installation of all required PVC sanitary sewer drain line <br />fittings, p-traps and all other related equipment for a fully operational drain line from the water <br />softener system, through the building and out to the sanitary sewer manhole. <br /> <br />3. Contractor shall be responsible for all required coring through the existing concrete deck and <br />foundation wall for the installation of the water and sanitary lines. <br /> <br />4. Contractor shall be responsible for securing all water and drain lines through bracket and hangers <br />as required to provide a solid and sound water and drain line system <br /> <br />5. Contractor shall install pipe insulation around all exposed water lines within the building. <br /> <br />6. Damages will be assessed if the Contractor varies from the above specification. <br /> <br />7. RPZ Backflow preventer shall be per City of South Bend standards and installed between City of <br />South Bend meter and first plumbing equipment or plumbing branch. <br /> <br />8. Measurement and Payment <br /> <br />a. Payment for all costs associated with Existing Pump House Water And Sanitary Plumbing <br />Equipment, including the cost of all materials, backflow preventer, water meter, fittings, valves, <br />insulation, equipment, tools, labor, transportation, operations, and all other incidentals required <br />for a fully operations and functioning water supply and drain system, shall be paid for on a <br />Lump Sum basis under the pay item: <br /> <br />EXISTING PUMP HOUSE WATER AND SANITARY PLUMBING AND EQUIPMENT….….LS <br />XXIII. AUTOMATIC WATER SOFTENING SYSTEM <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: INDOT 2022 Standard Specifications Section 402, 406 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. The Contractor shall furnish and place in operation, an automatic water softening based on product <br />by Hellenbrand, H200M QC-450 Duplex Demand Recall System using System Mate Controller, or <br />by pre-approved manufacturer prior to bid release. <br />a. MINERAL TANKS: Rotational molded fiberglass non-corrosive tanks with six-inch top flange <br />opening. 150 psi w.p. and 120 F temperature rating. Steel tanks shall not be allowed. Lower <br />distribution system shall be a hub and lateral design with full two -inch hub & laterals. Two (2) <br />30" Diameter x 72” Height Vessels are Required. <br /> <br />b. MINERAL: Each mineral tank shall contain 15 cubic feet of high capacity 8% cross-linked cation <br />exchange resin. Each mineral tank shall contain a layer of gravel support for the ion exchange <br />resin. <br /> <br />c. BRINE SYSTEM: (2) 39" x 48" polyethylene salt keeper, complete with cover, grid system for <br />dry salt storage operation, five-inch brine well, safety brine valve, air check and overflow. <br /> <br />d. CONTROL VALVES: The main operating control valves shall be a solid lead-free two-inch <br />brass valve with an electro-deposited epoxy coating NSF food grade material to protect against <br />corrosion, 24-volt output with AC adapter for safe and easy installation, DC drive, and 6” <br />Stainless Steel Top Mount Flange adapter with hinged clamp to allow for quick disconnect and <br />allows valve to swivel 360°. Control valves will have 2” Female NPT or 2.5” groove lock Inlet, <br />Outlet, and Drain connections.
