Qtnmutittrt rpur# <br /> Ulu the Qtnmmnn Olounrit of the (ditty.of Entity Send: <br /> HUMAN RESOURCES COMMITTEE <br /> The June 23 , 1986 , meeting of the Human Resources Committee was called to <br /> order by its chairman Councilman Braboy, at 4: 30 p.m. , in the Council <br /> meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included councilmen: Beck, Braboy, Voorde, <br /> Puzzello, Zakrzewski, Serge, Taylor, Paszek, Barcome and citizen members <br /> Sandy Combs and Jeff Gibney, Ann Kolata, Hedy Robinson, Jack St. Pierre, <br /> Ernest Szarwark, Irene Gammon, Jo Ann Harper, T. Brooks Brademas. <br /> Chairman Braboy read the minutes of the last meeting. <br /> Regarding Bill No. 55-86: Ann Kolata indicated she did not have an amended <br /> -bill with the legal description, but would have one by the time of the <br /> meeting. She indicated Hill Street was included in the legal description <br /> for tax abatement. She indicated that only the south side of Sample <br /> Street between Chapin and Olive, and both sides from Olive to Sheridan <br /> were included in the legal. She indicated she had submitted a second <br /> draft of the bill and there were amendments to be made to that draft. She <br /> indicated that on page 7 where it indicates retail projects it should be <br /> retail and commercial projects: On page 10 under Industrial Projects, 6 <br /> year abatement, the number of jobs has been changed from 30 to 25; 10 year <br /> abatement from 60 to 50 one year after project completion. She indicated <br /> that Warehousing (office and retail space) would be increased to 20 <br /> Council Member Barcome indicated he would rather it stay at 15%. Council <br /> Member Beck made a motion to amend the bill on page 20 by changing the <br /> City Clerk to Department of Economic Development, seconded by Council <br /> Member Puzzello. The motion carried. <br /> Regarding Bill No. 56-86: Ann Kolata indicated they wished to withdraw <br /> the second substitute bill, and the Council should consider the first <br /> substitute bill, which was approved by Area Plan. She indicated this bill <br /> would extend the legal boundaries of the exempt downtown area to include <br /> the proposed baseball park and more of the East Bank Area. She indicated <br /> this was necessary in order to have an unlimited amount of Class A <br /> Cabarets. Council Member Barcome made a motion to recommend this to the <br /> Council favorable, seconded by Council Member Beck. The motion carried. <br /> Hedy Robinson, of Economic Development, read the staff report for tax <br /> abatement for Gene' s Camera. She indicated they would create 15 new <br /> permanent jobs. Jack St. Pierre, president of Gene' s Camera indicated <br /> that since 1980 the shop has grown from one employee to 17. He indicated <br /> they planned to expand the business to do color processing presently being <br /> done in Chicago and Detroit. The Council complimented Mr. St. Pierre for <br /> the fine job he has done in his business. Council Member Beck made a'rm <br /> motion to recommend this resolution to the Council favorable, seconded by <br /> Council Member Puzzello.
