Personnel and Finance Committee Meeting <br /> Tha'.i.rsday, August 8, 1985----page 3----J <br /> was funded by the civil City of South Bend. Councilman Braboy ques- <br /> tioned whether the Commission handled situations where the City may <br /> be involved. Mr. Johnson stated that his department does its job, <br /> however did encourage such individuals to file their complaints <br /> at the state of federal levels. Councilman Beck noted that she was <br /> in need of receiving "fair housing" information for a possible new <br /> ordinance. <br /> CITY CLERK Page 5 $72, 806 increase of 3 .9% over 1985 <br /> Mrs. Irene Gammon reviewed her proposed .budget. It was noted <br /> that by state law her budget was not reviewed by the Mayor's depart- <br /> ment as are other City budgets. It was noted that Mrs . Nimitz is <br /> paid from the Parking garages however she does work for the Common <br /> Council. Mrs. Gammon noted that 4-5 years ago she decreased her <br /> department staff by eliminating one (1) clerk. <br /> Councilman Beck noted her dissatisfaction with the limited <br /> number of parking spaces for the City Council and that she has <br /> received. 3 tickets today alone. Mr. Vance noted that there is <br /> discussion regarding the present use of meter maids. <br /> COMMON COUNCIL Page .8 $145, 650 increase of 8-. 7% over 1985 <br /> Council President Beck then reviewed the Council' s proposed <br /> budget. It was noted that the 1987 election expenses must be <br /> budgeted and that more money per day for workers would have to <br /> be addressed in light of the new state law. She noted that travel <br /> expenses would be increased due to the conferences being held in <br /> San Antonio, Texas and Puerto Rico next year. . It was noted that <br /> line item 322 rents included an. amount for a car rental when <br /> attending conferences within the state of Indiana.. It was noted <br /> that line item 396 instruction included costs for registration fees . <br /> Councilman Braboy noted dissatisfaction with the typewritter. <br /> Following further discussion by the Committee, the meeting was. <br /> adjourned at 3:55 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Councilman Ann Puzzello <br /> Chairman <br />
