SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PARK CONMUSSIONERS <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> JUNE 18, 2012 <br /> The Board of Park Commissioners of the Park District of the City of South Bend, Indiana met on <br /> Monday June 18, 2012 at the O'Brien Administration&Recreation Center, 321 E. Walter St., <br /> South Bend, Indiana for its regular meeting. Notice of the date,time and place of the meeting were <br /> duly given as required by law. <br /> Park Board members present were as follows: <br /> Mr. Robert Goodrich,Vice President <br /> Ms. Amy Hill <br /> Mr. Garrett Mullins <br /> Park Board members absent were as follows: <br /> Mr. Robert Henry,President <br /> Staff members present: Phil St. Clair, Superintendent; Bill Carleton,Fiscal Officer; Susan <br /> O'Connor,Recreation Director; Randy Nowacki,Director of Golf Operations;Richard Payton, <br /> Development Director; Andrea Beachkofsky,Park Board Attorney <br /> I. The meeting was called to order by Board Vice President Robert Goodrich at 4:04 p.m. <br /> IL The first order of business was the interviewing of interested citizens. <br /> No citizens in attendance wished to address the Board. <br /> III. Potawatomi Zoological Society-Marcy Dean,Executive Director <br /> 1. The Family Walk was held last weekend and had over 100 walkers. <br /> 2. Ms Dean reported that the inspection of the butterfly exhibit by the USDA was done <br /> recently and the facility passed inspection. <br /> 3. Attendance is up due to the good weather. <br /> 4. Media coverage has been good. <br /> 5. Event planning is underway for summer events. The member's picnic will be held in <br /> July,the Gala in August and Zoo Brew in September. <br /> 6. The annual visitor's survey has been started. <br /> IV. Report by the Botanical Society <br /> 1. Botanical Society President Andrew Schnabel reported that irrigation and landscaping <br /> planning is moving forward. <br /> 2. Donations have been made toward the Martha Lewis Memorial Garden. <br /> 3. Director St. Clair added that specifications are being prepared for getting quotes for the <br /> irrigation around the outside of the Conservatory. <br /> 4. Windows will be whitewashed to cut down on the heat from direct sunlight. <br /> 5. A Trivia Night fund raiser will be held on June 22. <br /> 6. Hours will change for July and August. They will open in the morning and close during <br /> - - I - - <br />
