Councilman Beck requested a breakdown <br /> of services rendered by the Human. Society to the County and was advised that <br /> this would be sent to her. She also requested that the monthly reports <br /> include a breakdown of costs and the section of - the City from which pickups <br /> were made. Mrs. Barnard noted that she would follow up with this request . <br /> The forms account is up from $1 , 400 to $2 , 000 reflecting a 42% increase which <br /> is believed to be needed because of various notice requirements . The equipment <br /> rental at $480 . 00 was for the pagers, and the office equipment which is <br /> requested at $1 , 600 reflecting a $600 increase or 60% would be for a new <br /> typewriter. <br /> Mrs . Barnard noted that her department is continuing; to cross-train <br /> its' personnel and that she could use 5-6 new inspectors . Mr. Vance noted that this account is <br /> no longer on the tax rate and operates on its own revenue. Presently the <br /> City is "losing its ' shirt" . Cars which are picked up if not claimed are then <br /> sold pursuant to State law with the proceeds paying off all storage fees . <br /> Presently the cars go for about $40 a vehicle . <br /> In response to a question from Councilman Puzzello it was noted that <br /> fines from cleanup and mowing go into the General Fund as miss . revenue . <br /> Mrs . Barnard noted that two billings are sent before the case is turned over <br /> to the legal department . The City is discussing whether such cases should be <br /> sent instead to a collection agency. Councilman Puzzello requested an update <br /> on this matter. Councilman Braboy noted that the City does clean County <br /> owned lots. It was noted that the City bills the County but has not been paid. <br /> Councilman Braboy requested an update with regard to the amount of County. <br /> owned lots , their locations and the amount billed for the last two years . She <br /> noted that the County should be paying part of the burden. <br /> It was noted that Code Enforcement has between 22-24 cars and trucks . <br /> The Chevettes are averaging 10-12 , 000 miles yearly and are projected to be <br /> replaced on a five year basis . Mr. Vance noted that revenue sharing paid for <br /> the automobiles last year and some major equipment is proposed in the bond <br /> issue. <br /> The. City has looked into whether it should tow vehicles themselves . <br /> The legal department is concerned about liability and security once the vehicles <br /> are towed. Towing is presently done from 8-5.
