Page 2 . 7
Personnel and Finance
appropriation there would be a balance of approximately $300, 000 in the
revenue sharing account. Mr. Saros noted that donations have been received
from Lowes and Coachman Industries to help fund the escrow account .from which
lease payments are made. After May, 1984 the escrow balance will drop to
$10, 000 .
Councilman Braboy asked whether the museum would be self-supporting
and was advised that this was the intent however donations are an important
factor. The new position of Administrative Assistant for the Mayor will
assist in fund raising activities. Councilman Crone noted that if the
bill is passed that it would basically buy another year on the lease since the
City has already received notice of their default. Councilman Beck voiced
her concern that many individuals are holding off on donations until the
building is bought and Discovery Hall is moved. Councilman Serge noted
that the original plan for the Century Center was to have the entire
collection housed there.
Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman Serge
made a motion seconded by Councilman Beck that Bill No 28-84 receive a
favorable recommendation. The. passed unanimously.
Councilman Voorde noted that Resolution 9-D deals with UDAG. He
suggested that perhaps a decision on whether to purchase the FreemanSpicer
`Building be held up until final word on the Central High School project is
given. Mr. Vance noted that although Central could be received for a $1.00
there were many hidden costs related to utilites and remodeling.
Mr. Leszczynski then reviewed Bill No 29-84 which would appropriate
$60, 000 from Revenue Sharing for various vehicles needed for the Department
of Code Enforcement and Bureau of Traffic and Lighting This bill would
provide money for five cars for Code Enforcement and three pickup trucks
for Traffic and Lighting. He also noted that a new striper had been ordered
last week. Following discussion by the Committee Councilman Serge made a
motion seconded by Councilman Puzzello that Bill No 29-84 go to Council
favorable. The motion passed unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Committee the
meeting was adjourned at 4 :40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Ann B. Puzzello, Chairman
•
