Page 3 . <br /> Personnel and Finance Committee <br /> Councilman Crone recommended to the Council that the Utility budgets <br /> for 1983 be continued at the August 23rd meeting. She noted that since <br /> they were not under the same legal time frames as the Civil City budget <br /> that additional time could be used to review the budgets and the rates. . <br /> Councilman Voorde made a motion seconded by Councilman Crone that they <br /> Utility budgets be continued at the next Council meeting. The motion <br /> passed 4-0 . <br /> 1: 35 - 2: 10 CITY ATTORNEY <br /> Richard Hill reviewed the City Attorney' s budget (pages 9-11) for <br /> a total of $118, 686, representing a 7% increase over the current year. <br /> He noted that there is presently one vacancy in his department; that <br /> Dave Chapleau has been hired to do collection work; and that Greg Loughridge <br /> was handling real estate matters . Line-item 120 "Salaries and Wages <br /> Temporary" was requested at $8, 000. Mr . Hill noted that last year only <br /> $756.44 was used to fund the legal intern program with the rest of the <br /> money coming from Water Works and Redevelopment . <br /> 2 : 10 - 2: 20 COMMON COUNCIL <br /> The Committee then reviewed the Council budget (pages 12-13) , for a <br /> total of $249, 077, representing a 121% increase. It was noted that the <br /> only increases were those of the Councilmen's salaries, the legal' services <br /> recomended at a 7% increase, and line-item . 0399 other contracturals of <br /> $140,000 representing the first payment for next years City elections . <br /> Councilman McGann noted that excepting salaries the budget was reduced <br /> 65% from 1981 to 1982 . <br /> 2 : 20 - 2:40 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS/BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br /> Barbara Byers reviewed the Board of Public Works budget (pages 15-16) <br /> for a total of $1, 646, 647, representing a 14% increase over the current <br /> budget. She was assisted by John Leszczynski. Councilman McGann questioned <br /> the study on telephone service and was informed that the City Administration <br /> was still looking into it. Councilman Voorde questioned whether the <br /> City would be joining in the fight against utility increases for <br /> municipalities and was informed that that would have to be pursued through <br /> the legal department. Line-item .0351 electrical current reflected an <br /> increase of 15% on tariffs and a 30% increase on meters ; and that line-item <br /> .0379 rents reflected a rental increase of 59% with the remainder being <br /> hydrant rental . Mrs . Byers stated she would send a copy of the contract <br /> for the County-City Building; and Mr. Leszczynski stated that he would <br /> provide a listing of private rental income for hydrant and sprinklers . <br />
