Q ottuntlin Rrpnrl • 1a flit Qlnmmon (Qounril of Or QIltg of Ovid11 iltnh: UTILITIES COMMITTEE The October-A.1,1982 meeting of the Utilities Committee was called to order by its Chairman,Councilman Raymond Zielinski at 5 : 00 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. . Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, 'Zielinski, Harris, Voorde, Beck, and McGann. John Leszczynski, Sherrie Petz, Michael Vance, Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand and Marchmont Kovas. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss various bills which have been referred to the Committee for review and recommendation. Councilman Zielinski then chaired discussion of Bill No. 109-82 which would approve the contract between Layne-Northern and thenABoard of Water Works Commissioners in the amount of $32 ,000. Mr. Vance stated that this would be for the construction of a well at the Edison well field. Cleaning brought the system up to 80% capacity, however it is now down to 30% capacity. He indicated that the same equipment would be used however it would be housed outside. He also stated that there are presently four wells at this site and that 'the money for the contract was included in the budget. Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman McGann made a motion seconded by Councilman Beck to- recommend Bill No. 109-82 favorably to Council. The motion passed 4-0. Councilman Zielinski then chaired discussion on Bill No. 110-82 which would approve a contract between Peerless-Midwest and the Board of Water Works Commissioners in the amount of $64,963. Mr. Vance explained that this appropriation and contract would be fora new well in the Rum Village area. The money was included in the budget, and Peerless-Midwest was the low bid. • Following further discussion by the Committee,Councilman Voorde made a motion seconded by Councilman Beck, that Bill No. 110-82 go to Council favorably. The motion passed 4-0. The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 111-82 which would appropriate $1,220, 375 from the Cumulative Sewer Building and Sinking Fund for the installation of storm water and sanitary sewer systems on Calvert Street and New Maple Road for the Rum .Village Industrial Park. Mr. Leszczynski indicated that construction would begin in February or March of next year. The balance remaining in this Fund after this appropriation would be $681, 742. He also indicated that not all of the right of way has been acquired;, and that the County would not be involved since the UDAG will fund 'that portion formerly earmarked for the County. Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman Beck made a motion seconded by Councilman McGann that Bill No. 111-82 go to Council favorably. The motion passed 4-0.
