Q ottuntlin Rrpnrl <br /> • <br /> 1a flit Qlnmmon (Qounril of Or QIltg of Ovid11 iltnh: UTILITIES COMMITTEE <br /> The October-A.1,1982 meeting of the Utilities Committee was called to <br /> order by its Chairman,Councilman Raymond Zielinski at 5 : 00 p.m. in the <br /> Council informal meeting room. <br /> . Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, <br /> 'Zielinski, Harris, Voorde, Beck, and McGann. John Leszczynski, Sherrie Petz, <br /> Michael Vance, Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand and Marchmont Kovas. <br /> The purpose of the meeting was to discuss various bills which have <br /> been referred to the Committee for review and recommendation. <br /> Councilman Zielinski then chaired discussion of Bill No. 109-82 <br /> which would approve the contract between Layne-Northern and thenABoard of <br /> Water Works Commissioners in the amount of $32 ,000. Mr. Vance stated that <br /> this would be for the construction of a well at the Edison well field. <br /> Cleaning brought the system up to 80% capacity, however it is now down to <br /> 30% capacity. He indicated that the same equipment would be used however <br /> it would be housed outside. He also stated that there are presently four <br /> wells at this site and that 'the money for the contract was included in the <br /> budget. <br /> Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman McGann <br /> made a motion seconded by Councilman Beck to- recommend Bill No. 109-82 <br /> favorably to Council. The motion passed 4-0. <br /> Councilman Zielinski then chaired discussion on Bill No. 110-82 which <br /> would approve a contract between Peerless-Midwest and the Board of Water <br /> Works Commissioners in the amount of $64,963. Mr. Vance explained that <br /> this appropriation and contract would be fora new well in the Rum Village <br /> area. The money was included in the budget, and Peerless-Midwest was the <br /> low bid. <br /> • <br /> Following further discussion by the Committee,Councilman Voorde made <br /> a motion seconded by Councilman Beck, that Bill No. 110-82 go to Council <br /> favorably. The motion passed 4-0. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 111-82 which would appropriate <br /> $1,220, 375 from the Cumulative Sewer Building and Sinking Fund for the <br /> installation of storm water and sanitary sewer systems on Calvert Street <br /> and New Maple Road for the Rum .Village Industrial Park. Mr. Leszczynski <br /> indicated that construction would begin in February or March of next year. <br /> The balance remaining in this Fund after this appropriation would be <br /> $681, 742. He also indicated that not all of the right of way has been <br /> acquired;, and that the County would not be involved since the UDAG will <br /> fund 'that portion formerly earmarked for the County. <br /> Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman Beck made <br /> a motion seconded by Councilman McGann that Bill No. 111-82 go to Council <br /> favorably. The motion passed 4-0. <br /> The Committee then reviewed the Utility budget and was presented with <br /> two handouts incorporating suggested changes.
