2022 South Bend Dam Technical Assistance December 1, 2021
Attachment A Page 2
Task 5 – Emergency Action Plan Exemption: Burke will perform a cursory desktop and visual evaluation
to determine if there have been observable changes in upstream or downstream conditions that may affect the
determination that no reasonably foreseeable emergency at the dam would endanger life, health, or property.
This evaluation is expected to include only a review of publicly-available aerial photography and observations
at the site and specifically excludes dam failure flood inundation mapping. Burke will prepare a brief annual
report of the field reconnaissance in support of the continued Emergency Action Plan exemption. Burke will
prepare a cover letter to accompany the documentation and will send it to the University of Notre Dame or its
consultants for submittal to FERC.
Task 6 – Project Management and Meetings: This task is associated with management and administration
of the project throughout its duration. Burke will attend up to one meeting with City staff after completion of
the DSSMR to discuss findings. It is expected that additional project coordination will occur via email,
telephone, or online meetings.
