AND FINANCE COMMITTEE- <br /> c�u the Qlamuwu Q ounril of Olt Qlitg of*wall lend: <br /> The June 22, 1981, meeting of the Personnel and Finance Committee was <br /> called to order by its Chairman, Councilman Beverly D. Crone at 4 : 00 p.m. <br /> in the Council meeting room. <br /> Persons' in attendance included: Councilman: Zielinski, Voorde, Crone, <br /> Serge, Beck, McGann, and Szymkowiak; Jon Hunt, Joe Kernan, Sherrie Petz, <br /> Jim Wensits, John Strauss, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> The..meeting was called to continue the discussion of the funds needed <br /> for capitol repairs and purchases, and other miscellaneous matters. <br /> It was tentatively agreed that John Stancoti would meet with the Public <br /> Works Committee on Monday, June 29, 1981, at 4 : 30 p.m. to discuss the vehicle <br /> fleet study. <br /> Discussion of the Fire Departments' request for a rescue boat then took <br /> place, with Councilman Szymkowiak volunteering to contact businessman. The <br /> funds needed for the boat would not be added to the $61, 000 for which the <br /> ,Council and Administration is presently looking. <br /> $4,000 will be taken from the Council' s budget under the line-item <br /> Salaries representing the share-received from_ Councilman Serge:f-s- aAd <br /> Szymkowiak' s salaries. <br /> The Committee then asked several questions of the Administration. <br /> Councilman McGann questioned what economics' had been made by creating <br /> the manger of Secretarial Services position. Jon Hunt mentioned that one <br /> Secretary III position in Community Development was eliminated, the secretary <br /> to the Hearing Officer was also eliminated, and a secretary' s position in <br /> the Fire Department has been open for a period of .time. He emphasized that <br /> they were putting an emphasis on part-time and temporary labor. <br /> Councilman McGann also questioned the amount of miscellaneous revenue <br /> which has been received, compared to what was budgeted; as well as the amount <br /> of money accumulated by vacant positions which were budgeted. Councilman <br /> Crone requested that all department heads - should be able to identify empty <br /> positions ,with the Controller' s office' identifying the dollars. <br /> Councilman Voorde suggested the possibility of delayed action on Bill <br /> No. 57-81 which deals with a $60, 000 appropriation for the Twyckenham and <br /> Lincolnway intersection; questioned the use of consulting engineers on vari- <br /> ous projects, and suggested the possibility of buying a fire pumper with a <br /> capacity of less than 1500 gallons of water per minute. Councilman Voorde <br /> also suggested that rather than close a facility, he would suggest a 5 to <br /> 10% cutback on the street paving program. He - also inquired into the amount <br /> of investments earned, and was informed that they were "doing well" but the <br /> future was unpredictable. <br /> Councilman Crone asked whether the Administration had gathered the re- <br /> port on handicapped parking revenues which she requested at the last meeting • <br /> The Administration informed her that they werestill pulling it together. • <br /> 4 ./11[[ /1![•t pusLI•MINO co. <br />
