He preferred to go to a chart approach with $1. 00 per $1, 000 worth <br /> of improvements being the norm, and with a minimum fee of $5. 00 for any <br /> improvement. <br /> Further data will be supplied by Mr. Markle. <br /> Heating & Ventilating <br /> Mr. Markle indicated that the cost for a permit for air conditioning <br /> and a heater was now $15. 00, which he belived was too low. <br /> Councilman McGann noted that: <br /> $27, 945 would be needed for 1982 <br /> 11, 000 was brought in last year or 45% <br /> Mr. Markle preferred one permit for a heater and air conditioning. He will <br /> provide figures on how many total conversions there were in 1980; how <br /> many were add-ons; and how many were in residential and commercial units. <br /> Plumbing <br /> This area was last reviewed in 1979. Mr. Markle believes that the <br /> fixture costs should not be increased. <br /> Mr. Markle indicated that he would have further figures for each <br /> category by next Monday for the Committee to review. <br /> Dave Wells was then asked to review fees coming under the Public Works <br /> jurisdiction. He indicated that they are "money losers" . Presently there <br /> are two areas: <br /> (1) Sidewalks at 25 cents and a requirement of a $1, 000 bond, <br /> and <br /> (2) Excavations which require a $5, 000 bond <br /> He noted that Tom Niemeyer does all the inspections in this area. The <br /> Committee requested the following information from Mr. Wells for its next <br /> meeting: Number of permits for each category, amount of revenue received, <br /> amount of manhours involved, cost breakdown of salaries, paper supplies, <br /> and staff. <br /> The Council attorney noted that it appeared that the fees in this area <br /> were last reviewed as follows: <br /> Buildings 1961 <br /> Electrical 1962 <br /> -2- <br />
