a. MATERIAL <br />i. The use of an appropriate architectural epoxy is permitted for <br />restoring damaged, original material (esp. character -defining <br />features, old-growth wood and metal). <br />ii. Sections of incompatible siding may be temporarily removed to <br />evaluate the condition of the siding underneath. <br />b. WINDOWS <br />i. Inappropriate, fixed storm window units may be removed. <br />ii. Appropriate, wood storm window sashes may be installed at <br />missing locations. <br />iii. Interior storm windows that do not detract from existing window <br />units, may be used. <br />c. ROOFS <br />i. Architectural shingles may be substituted for three -tab asphalt <br />varieties. <br />ii. Rooftop heating elements for snow and ice dam mitigation, may be <br />installed at approved locations. <br />iii. New gutter sections may be installed at inconspicuous and <br />specified locations. <br />d. MECHANICALS <br />i. Exhaust vents and plastic piping for Natural Gas, LP or Radon <br />systems may be installed at specified, unobtrusive locations. <br />e. AMENITIES <br />i. Installations of small-scale and appropriate amenities, including: <br />Plaques, Address Signs, Historic Markers, Mailboxes, Flower <br />Boxes, Light Fixtures, Sconces, Flags and similar items are <br />permitted. <br />L FENCES <br />i. Changes in mounting post and gate locations, within previously <br />established perimeters are permitted. <br />ii. Alternative wooden picket styles that are in keeping with <br />applicable Standards and Guidelines, are permitted. <br />g. TREES <br />i. A severely damaged, diseased or structurally intrusive tree <br />specimen may be removed if a suitable replacement will be <br />substituted in situ. <br />ii. Different tree varieties may be substituted if original species are no <br />longer available or appropriate for the specified location. <br />iii. New trees (for removed specimens) may be planted in nearby, <br />alternate locations whenever the original location is deemed <br />incompatible. <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />
