<br />Page 7 of 42 <br />INDOT, as preemption repairs are not covered under this Agreement. In lieu <br />of repair to the preemption equipment, disconnection of the preemption <br />equipment from the controller is appropriate. If there has been a knock down <br />of traffic signal apparatus that contains emergency vehicle preemption <br />equipment, an attempt should be made, using normal diligence, to salvage the <br />preemption equipment for re-use. <br />iii. In the event of extreme emergency problems, solicit the immediate assistance <br />of local law enforcement agencies as necessary until such time that emergency <br />repairs can be accomplished. Damaged, inoperative traffic signals should not <br />be left unattended. A signal may be placed in a flashing mode, or if there are <br />no signal indications, a STOP sign control shall be installed or police control <br />of the intersection shall be used, while repairs are being completed. <br />iv. Not make alterations of existing installations unless authorized in writing by <br />INDOT except in cases of emergency when a traffic signal is out of operation <br />and no one from INDOT can be reached to authorize the repairs in which case, <br />the CITY shall make the necessary repairs and submit damaged equipment to <br />INDOT as evidence of material used to keep the signal in operation. <br />v. Notify INDOT immediately of the Emergency Maintenance repairs so INDOT <br />can inspect the work performed. <br />B. Documentation. The CITY shall keep and provide records of all work performed <br />during Emergency Maintenance repairs. The CITY shall provide a copy of any police <br />department accident or officers report about damage to traffic signal installations, so <br />that INDOT may attempt recovery of damages. A Signal Work Activity will be <br />provided for each intersection where work was performed with the monthly invoice for <br />in which work was completed. Any requested supplemental documentation will be <br />provided upon request. <br />2.5. CERTIFICATION OF PERSONNEL. The CITY shall have a staff or a contractor <br />prequalified by INDOT who is capable of properly and adequately maintaining the traffic signals on <br />State routes/highways, including those on the “Special Signal System”, all as listed on Exhibit A. <br />A.
