CITY OF SOUTH BEND HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />COA #2021-0506 is approved and remanded to staff. <br />v. 2021-0601 512 Lindsey Street Chapin Park, Ordinance #9574-05 <br />(Audio Position: 44:00) <br />The staff report was presented by Adam Toering. <br />Staff Recommendation: Staff divides the project into three components: A) front <br />porch re -roofing with metal exposed fastener system, B) Window replacement, C) <br />Door installation. <br />A) Roof — Staff recommends asking the property owner to amend the application to <br />a standing -seam metal roof, details to be confirmed by staff and approved. <br />B) Window Replacement — Staff makes no recommendation. Staff would prefer to <br />see the large picture window restored, as it appeared in serviceable condition. <br />C) Door installation — Staff recommends approval. <br />The applicant was represented by: <br />Mike and Jennifer Stone, 917 Leland Ave South Bend, IN 46616 <br />The public was represented by: <br />Cole Hay, 841 Park Avenue South Bend, IN 46616, spoke against this petition. <br />After due consideration, the following action was taken: <br />Upon a motion by Eric Stalheim, seconded by Patrick Deegan, and carried by vote, <br />the Historic Preservation Commission approves the splitting of the petition into three <br />parts: roof, windows, and door installation. <br />Vote: 5-0. Five in favor, none opposed. <br />Motion is approved. <br />Upon a motion by David Wyncott, seconded by Patrick Deegan, and carried by vote, <br />the Historic Preservation Commission DENIES the replacement of the roof with metal <br />material on the porch roof. <br />Commissioner Tiffany (AYE): I deny because the standards and guidelines and <br />also the cost. <br />Commissioner Wyncott (AYE): I am denying it because of the standards and <br />guidelines. <br />Commissioner Stalheim (AYE): I deny for the reasons previously stated. <br />Commissioner Deegan (AYE): I deny also for the same reasons. <br />Page 13 <br />
